Larry Monroe May

Larry Monroe May, age 71 of Pensacola , passed away suddenly Tuesday October 18, 2011. He was born October 9, 1940m in Pinsonfork, Kentucky to the late James Clyde May and Hattie Moore May. Larry served and retired from the United States Navy as a Navy Seabee. He also retired from American Building Components in Pensacola after 13 years of service in 1999. He enjoyed camping, traveling, being a prankster, motorcycles and woodworking. He was also a member of the Holt First Baptist Church.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Larry Michael May; two brothers, Darrell May and James May; and a sister, Helen D. Strahan.

He is survived by his loving wife Susan E. May; three daughters, Helen (John) Winfree of Molino, Rebekah (Robert) Lambert of Warrior, AL and Gwendolyn McArthur of Milton; five grandchildren, Bryan Winfree, Tyler Hawthorne, Logan Hawthorne, Alexis Lambert and Alona Lambert; four brothers, Clyde (Lucy) May of Savannah, GA Leslie (Rita) May of Holt, FL, Ted (Wanda) May of Canada, KY, and John (Debbie) May of Kenova, WV; two sisters-in-law, Barbara May of Westerville, OH and Stephanie May of Kenova, WV; and a brother-in-law, Thomas Strahan of Hendersonville, TN; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be Tuesday October 25, 2011, at noon at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Barrancas National Cemetery at 2 p.m. with full military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday October 24 from 6-8 p.m.
