An elderly female was seriously injured in a dirt road crash Saturday morning.

The woman lost control of her car just before 11 a.m. on South Pine Barren Road about a mile and a half from South Century Boulevard in McDavid and struck several small trees. The Chrysler 300 came to rest upside just along the edge of the roadway.

The driver was airlifted by LifeFlight to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. There were no passengers in the vehicle.

The accident is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. Escambia County EMS and the McDavid and Molino Stations of Escambia Fire Rescue also responded to the crash.

I think they should just pave the road, don’t close it

I’m sorry she had an accident, but a road is only as dangerous as the people driving on it. I grew up on dirt roads, and they are not dangerous if you drive a safe speed and pay attention. I’m glad she is okay, but blaming the road is not the answer. Accepting she was likely driving faster than the road conditions allow and taking responsibility for that will be what prevents another accident, not hounding the county to pave a road that from what I see very few people use. The economy doesn’t allow for that type of frivolousness at this point.

I agree with student just close down the road….even though hunters will use it to get to there food plots no other reason to have it opened….
    Hope she will be OK

No body lives on the dirt part of pine barren which is owned by the paper company, why doesnt the company just shut down the road like they did with roach road? seems like it’d be much safer for idiots out there

Prayers are with this lady. I hate to see anyone involved in an accident. However, (knocking on wood) I lived in Molino for 18 years, moved to PCola, then to McDavid and have been there since 1998…The roads are not the problem, it is the way they are driven. You can pave Pine Barren off South Century Blvd/Hwy 29 and post a 5 mph speed limit and you will always have SOMEONE driving unsafe. Asphalt and speed limits do not make a road safer! PEOPLE DO! I have paid Escambia County and the State of Florida several times throughout my driving career, so I am speaking from the heart here. I am no better than any one else.. If you think that part of Pine Barren Road is unsafe, go around to be safe. If you live by the dirt part, you have the option of Bogia Rd and if you are further down, there is always Hwy 164. Always heard the Fastest route was not always the Safest route..Let’s be real….People kill People! Not the roads, vehicles, guns, etc. that are being blamed these days. Too much blame on others rather where it needs to be placed. Not saying this is the cause here because I did not witness the accident, just general observation of the daily happenings. Again, prayers to the family and the injured.

Pine Barren appears to be a dangerous dirt road, perhaps the speed limit should be lowered to a safe speed, or the road paved. I wish you a full speedy recovery Mamn.

Thanks for all the prayers. My mom is doing well. SHe got out of surgery today. She has multiple breaks in her right arm and some facial swelling but other than that she made it out of the wreck pretty good. Pine Barren Rd ( the dirt part of it) is very dangerous. Yes an earlier accident with the 2 kids was on the same road and another wreck on the same road yesterday arounf 6pm. If anyone can get the road paved it will be my mom. I’m sure once she’s able, the letters phone calls will be flowing non stop.

This lady is very lucky, if she makes it through this… OMG! The car looks like a convertible. It is squished to the door, bottom of window; I’m guessing that rescue had to flip this car back over to be able to even get this poor elderly lady out. Sending prayers for this lady, God be with her and her family…

When my oldest son was at Northview, he had an accident on Pine Barren. The reason for that accident was a black pick-up coming from the opposite direction over too far on the road and forcing my son off the road into a tree. The jerk never stopped to see if my son was alright. Left the boy there pn a dirt road at night. Not a good road to have to walk on to get help. Pine Barren is a dangerous road, there are people that drive it like morrons.

What “needs” to happen,is often a need of vehicle education.

Pine Barren is a very dangerous road! I used to drive it every day to school when I went to Northview until I almost got in a wreck! I was too scared to drive it after that! Hope this woman is ok and thank God that it wasn’t any worse!

    >>Is this the same place as wreck with the teenage boys??

It’s the same road, but the accident sites were probably 2+ miles apart.
