Vehicles Burglarized During Graveside Funeral Service

August 9, 2011

Authorities are on the hunt for someone that burglarized several vehicles in a cemetery during a graveside funeral service.

The incident happened Saturday during a graveside service at Serenity Gardens Cemetery in Milton. When deputies arrived, they found that five vehicle burglaries had occurred while the owners were attending the funeral service only about 50 yards away.

Three of the burglarized vehicles had been left unlocked, while one had a side window broken out with a window punch. The fifth vehicle had damaged windows from the punch.

The suspect took items such as purses, cash, cell phones, identification cards and credit cards.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to contact the Santa Rosa County Crime Stoppers at (850) 437-STOP.

I have had my car vandalized and items in it taken many times and my
vehicle was always locked. If they want in, they will get in. Locks only
stop an honest person and there seems to be more dishonest people
anymore. The economy has nothing to do with rather or not you were
    raised right.

This is why you lock your vehicle and don’t leave things in it. It is really sad that this happened at a time of mourning for the friends and family.

You are low life scum. I hope your conscience eats away at you so you have no rest!!

And shame on your parents for not raising you properly. May you have no peace from what you did!!!

I guess people will be adding to their burden by hiring security at the cemetery to bury their loved ones, some already hire them to guard their house while they’re away..

This same situation happened just last week but of all things, it was the van the military honor guard were traveling in. While they were firing the 21 gun salute and playing taps and such – someone was tapping their belongings from the van.

    Nothing is sacred anymore.

The main reason for doing such is that their moral compass points due South…

Everett, do you actually believe that the stock market and/or the economy cause otherwise law-abiding citizens to become thieves?
If so, what caused you to form that opinion? If not, why parrot such an overused phrase?

NOTHING should make someone stoop this low. Anyone doing such a despicable act should be SOS.

To the person/s stealing vases and mementos from Oak Hill Cemetary in Atmore. If I catch you, you be talking and I be walking you down to that bottom. Ive heard it all before.

An easy target for theft. The time of funerals are posted in the paper. Even easier, time and place. No camera’s around. The living are all congregated around the deceased. The only witnesses to these crimes are the dead and they are not talking.
Big story here but not out of the ordinary in larger cities across the country. At least folks aren’t digging bodies for the jewelry and gold teeth yet. A body was taken out of a mosuleum at Eastern Gate Cemetery in P’cola last week. Three guess’s on what may have happened there.

    We know someone did.

Yep, when the stock market falls, people just naturally respond by breaking into cars at funerals.

    Sure they do.

Not suprised at all. Considering the market and economy it’s just going to get worse.
