Sara Frances (Boutwell) Straughn

Mrs. Sara Frances (Boutwell) Straughn, 92, of Century  died Thursday, August 4, 2011, in Pensacola  after a brief illness. She was born in Repton, AL, and was a long term resident of Century  and very active in the surrounding communities. She is preceded in death by her husband. P.A. Straughn.

A devout Christian, she was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star. She was very active in the United Methodist Women and a dedicated volunteer with the SAIL program. She and her husband, P.A. ‘Bill’ Straughn, operated Straughn’s Hardware and Building Supply in Century for many years.

Mrs. Straughn is survived by her brother, William Kenneth (Rita) Boutwell of Chickasaw; her daughter, Carolyn Straughn (Calvin) Turner of Wewahitchka, FL; her son, William Rex (Rebecca) Straughn of Pace,FL; five grandchildrenm Judy Turner (Chris) West, Joan Turner (Harold) Carnley, Tonya Straughn (Chris) Gulbranson, William Jason Straughn, Sara Ashley Straughn; and one great grandson, Jesse Malon Smith.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2011, at the Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel from 2 p.m. until service time at 4 p.m. Officiating ministers will be Rev. Patricia Bruner and Rev. Janet Lee. Interment will be in Flomaton Cemeter.
