New Poll Ranks Northview No. 2 In Florida 1A Football

The Northview Chiefs are ranked No. 2 in Florida in Class 1A in a preseason football poll released Monday by the Associated Press.
Jefferson County is No. 1 in the poll with more points that Northview, although Northview actually received more first place votes from sportswriters across the state.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs are the No. 1 Class 1A football team in Florida, according to a poll released recently by the national sports website Maxpreps.com.
The Chiefs lost in the state semifinals last year, just one win away from the state championship game.
The Chiefs opened 2011 with a 26-17 preseason fall classic win over Bay High School last Friday night. Northview begins regular season play September 9 on the road at Marianna.

I am pleased to see the chiefs are doing well. However rankings are all a matter of opinon. if NHS wants to be the best, then win and beat the best down the road.

John under the new district format Bay is a 5A school. They were 3A last season.
@ Keith, Bay High School is a 3A school, and Gus is absolutley correct rankings mean absolutley nothing.
Everyone needs to relax about state rankings, they mean absolutely nothing until the end of the year. If at the end of the year it says your #1, then that’s all that will matter, no one is worried about a pre-season ranking. If Northview takes care of business week in and week out, they will accomplish what is expected of them. Good luck this year Chiefs! The community is excited for this upcoming year.

NHS was No. 1 in the MaxPreps preseason poll and No. 2 in the AP preseason. Two different polls — this was the 1st poll of the year for AP.
