Pcola Traffic: Expect Delays All Week At Davis And I-10
August 1, 2011
Drivers can expect delays all week at Davis Highway at I-10 in Pensacola.
The project includes improvements to a southbound lane of Davis Highway and the westbound ramp to I-10. Work will take place from 8 p.m. until 5 p.m. and is expected to be complete by Friday, weather permitting.
The work will include a lane separator, striping, adjustments to traffic signals and signage improvements.

Amen Warf Rat! Davis Highway was a mess when I rode the bus to PCS over 40 years ago. What is the story with that strip of road, poor planning?
For most of the day, Davis Highway backs up from I10 beyond University Parkway. The first comment about the drivers cuttin in line behind Walgress is totally correct. The Sheriff’s department could make lots of money on fines if they were to patrol that.
The “improvement” on the on ramp was to take it from two lanes off Davis Hwy down to one. How is that suppose to improve traffic flow on Davis Hwy. It just means more cars trying to get in one lane to get on the interstate
I believe you are correct…it is just a training area for traffic trainees! That area could have been fixed 3 or 4 times by now if they had used their heads, but then how would they keep all those people working? Think about it…it gets worse!
This section of highway has been under construction since the mid ’90s. I think it is some type of lab for student traffic engineers. Maybe if they four laned the drive behind the Walgreens, traffic would move smoother. A large percentage of the traffic trying to go from east-bound Olive to South-bound Davis ‘fly’ around the drug store, avoiding the the traffic light, beating the law abiders to the next traffic light.
