New Hours For Escambia Tax Collector Offices
August 30, 2011
Beginning Thursday, Escambia County Tax Collector Janet Holley’s office is changing its hours of operation.
Beginning September 1, all four tax collector offices will open 30 minutes earlier at 8:00 a.m. instead of 8:30 a.m. However, offices will close at 4:30 p.m. instead of 5:00 p.m. in an effort to limit the need for overtime, Holley said. Employees will continue to work a 40 hour week.
“Closing the doors at 4:30 p.m. will give us the opportunity to assist those last minute customers without requiring overtime, thus, saving taxpayer dollars,” Holley said. “Our overtime costs for the past year were about $100,000.”
For questions, call the tax collector’s office at (850) 438-6500 ext. 252.

You can get driver’s license and/or ID at Cantonment office, with proper identification. BUT the sign outside the office states you need an appointment. So call first.
Hello Just saying. Your reasoning and management abilities are only exceeded by your detective skills.
This is a smart move for our tax Collector. Folks what have you done before, you took off work or went in later in the day or took off early from work. We the working folks have to do the same thing. Thank goodness our tax dollars are being used wisely. You can get you drivers license and ID cards here now. You just have to show the proper documents.
Let them eat cake, and take off from work early.
They save money by being open when customers can’t be there. Suprised that private business haven’t thought of this cost saving measure.
whataboutus…Your suggestion makes too much sense. It reeks of customer service.
folks in century have a hard enough time having to go to cantoment, now they’re closing at 4:30 —they need to bring the office in century back if only two days out of the week.
Maybe we complain too much. Ms Holly is an Escambia County icon. She has been in office so long, she is practically an institution. I cannot imagine not seeing her name, on the sighn of the tax collectors office.
You can get a Florida Identifcation at this office. Just show proof of age and residence.
This is just fine for you, but what about people that work. How are we supposed to get off work and make it to your office before you close. Good job!
Why not open at 10am and close at 6pm?
Maybe they could put a little self service kiosk on the front, like those dvd rental machines at the Magik Market, for after hour customers.
So now people who work can’t get there without taking time off work. Great, now they make less money, so their employer saves money too, while they have to put their job at risk to ge to the tax office.
I heard you can get a Fl. ID @ this office..any truth to it???
