Man Charged In Weekend Escambia County Homicide

August 26, 2011

An Escambia County man was charged Thursday night  with the death of a man whose body was found Sunday in a wooded area near the Marcus Pointe Apartments in Pensacola.

Sergio Moorer, 18, was charged with an open count of murder, vehicle theft and robbery for his involvement in the death of  68-year old John Daniel Hall of Pensacola. Investigators said Hall was last seen alive Saturday afternoon.

Hall’s vehicle was located Thursday afternoon by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office in the Oakstead Mobile Home Park on Massachusetts Avenue.  Moorer and another black male were with the vehicle and fled on foot as deputies arrived. After a short foot chase, both suspects were taken into custody. The second person with the vehicle, who has not been identified by the Sheriff’s Office, was not immediately charged but was named a person of interest in the case.

Moorer was booked into the Escambia County Jail where he was held without bond.

Surely this 60 something year old man wanted something more than a chat at an ungodly hour. I’m sure we all know what that something is. Things got out of hand and now a man is dead. We will never know the real story, however I know the younger man very well. I’m positive that there’s more to this story. I’m praying for you Sergio.

This is the first run in with the law for this guy.”

When you say this is a person’s first run-in with the law and you are talking about an 18 year-old, there is another way to put it: As soon as this person was old enough for his actions to be public record he was accused of murder. Well, okay, he’s been over 18 for a while now, but still it is possible to have done many things as a minor which were not reported because a person was a minor. It is possible to have done many things which were never charged because of the climate of “no snitches” which allows people to prey on each other as long as nobody tells the outsiders (Law enforcement) what they’ve done.

    David considering possibilities
