Frontier Experiences Third Internet Outage Of Week

August 6, 2011

Frontier Communications high speed internet customers in Florida and Alabama experienced another outage Saturday morning — the third in less than a week.

The company’s internet customers in Molino, Walnut Hill and Bratt in Florida and Atmore and other locations in Alabama, lost internet service about 11:30 Saturday morning. The service was restored for most, if not all, customers just after 1 p.m.

Attempts to reach a Frontier spokesperson for comment were unsuccessful.

Frontier customers lost both internet and the ability to call outside their local exchange on Wednesday. The phone outage was repaired in about 20 minutes, while the internet was out for several hours and instability continued into the evening.

On Tuesday, Frontier internet customers experienced instability, including the inability to reach many major internet sites such as Google and Facebook.

Frontiernet offers three speeds of DSL but doesn’t tell customer which they are on.. I live on a street where the slowest DSL exist and they say it can’t be improved as I’m being served from a slow direction.. No plans that I know of to improve any service.. I’m looking at changing to Cable as it’s speeds are far faster than DSL.. I’m not at all happy with Frontier as my DSL connection isn’t available to my PC..
I’m upset and trying to be nice but service isn’t satisfactory.. I know Frontier needs the business.. wants the business but I see no improvement in the near or far future.. DSL needs to be fast but it should work and it’s now now working.

Frontier is extremely slow today too. But of course, the CSR says no outage. FYI…we are in area in which we do not have a choice of local carriers; this is due to accommodations made to small local phone companies during the deregulation in the 80’s of Ma Bell and AT&T. And the dirty little secret of areas who do have choice: the other carriers rent the same lines and equipment that are ready connected to your home!

Our Frontier internet went down sometime on Saturday and did not come back up until yesterday afternoon. Very aggravating when you pay your bills and such online. I rebooted several times so it was definitely a Frontier problem!

I had AT&T internet and dish for awhile and it was awesome. Never had any problems. When I moved where Im at now I was in Cox’s territory and I have to say that its even better.

You know, I commented on this the last time around. Frontier needs to be respectful of its customers and AT LEAST offer a comment or reason for the outages. People are more willing to understand and to be forgiving, butonly if they understand the problem.

Let’s get this problem FIXED, Frontier. Tell us what’s going on…we deserve that much. If you don’t tell people then they will be forced to move to another carrier for service.

No pun intended, but “keep the lines of communication open”. It’s vital. Literally!

I had a neighbor that used At&T, never heard her complain, but am still under contract to Frontier anyway.

    >>Well, Lets add another fourth outage to it!!!!! Sunday evening Aug. 7th

No problems with Frontier DSL Sunday evening at our office. And we’ve not received no other emails or complaints. You might try powering everything off and rebooting.

Well, Lets add another fourth outage to it!!!!! Sunday evening Aug. 7th. This is ridiculous! Tried to be very patient, but this has gone too far!! Will be expecting a credit on my bill!

apparently if you want something done you have to put pressure in the right place…change providers until they get the message. We need reliable service out here. So here’s a question; can they be sued if you can’t reach 911 when you need to? Something to think about.

They want to charge me to stop using them. I don’t see why I have to pay to stop a service that is not up to par for what I’m paying.

I didn’t know about this third outage…OH, that’s right, I switched to Verizon MiFi. I will no longer be jerked around by Frontier (at least not at home)!!

    ;-)

We had Hughes Net here in lottie for 2 years-waste of money and very expensive, but it was only option! Now Frontier, we’ve had a repairman out here a couple dozen times and usually doesnt work after repair, yet our bill does not reflect the weeks without internet! Someone needs to bring some competition to Atmore! If it doesnt get better soon, well turn it off!! The days of customer satisfaction are over! :(

Imagine trying to do daytrading with frontier constantly going up and down….could costs thousands of dollars if can’t excute a trade.

  17. Dixie Chick on August 6th, 2011 3:43 pm

I’d be looking into other options!

  18. agree on August 6th, 2011 2:37 pm

I agree…we need a credit on our bill for not having service. Some of us need our internet to do school work. We have dates when our work is due…and they do not take account that our internet has been down.

  19. jennifer on August 6th, 2011 2:16 pm

    This is getting real old!

  20. fed up on August 6th, 2011 2:14 pm

We seriously need more options out here in the country! They r too expensive anyway! Anyone have suggestions?

  21. . on August 6th, 2011 1:17 pm

this is insane. we pay for a service and it is always going down. do we get a credit for when it is down? NO . we all need to take a minute and report them to fcc.
