August 13, 2011

An Escambia County man faces up to 35 years in prison for a 2010 home invasion.

Courtney Darnell Henderson was convicted by an Escambia County jury of home invasion robbery without a weapon, battery upon a person 65 years of age or older and resisting an officer without violence.

On April 8, 2010, Henderson and two others forced their way into the home of Lloyd E Dawson, while a fourth person waited in the car. Once inside, Dawson was pushed and held down while he was struck repeatedly with his own cane. The defendants took a camcorder and other electronic devices.

Judge Michael Allen scheduled sentencing for September 9. Henderson faces a maximum sentence of 35 years in state prison. The state will be seeking sentencing as a prison releasee reoffender, according to State Attorney Bill Eddins.

This is his 5th burglary charge in 2 years. He was convicted of escape in 2002 and got only 18 months. An alumis on the Clerk of Courts.

To Auntie and Vanny: When they break into your home in the middle of the night and hold you at gun point hopefully your liberal opinion of trash like this will change. Also how his he opressed? He has more free advantages and options given or offered to him than most. He has had everything handed to him free all his life. Pardom me while I pook.

These criminals just waste more tax payers money. I mean if it wasn’t for all this crime, I wouldn’t have to spend $1 to goto the beach.

I agree CharlesVanny. If i had my way, i would meet with these troubled youths weekly to encourage them so they see a light at the end of the tunnel. Being an opressed individual while facing the issues of being in jail is tough. Snowcone machines in every jail i say.

@Mabry, I can’t believe you would suggest that a person should be locked in solitary for life! I believe this individual (if he did commit this crime) is sorry for what happened and would benefit more by being placed in a behavioral treatment facility. To Mr. Henderson I’ll keep you in my prayers.

I think he should get more time.

It’s a shame they couldn’t put him away in solitary confinement for life. If i was running the jail, that’s what i would do. Or maybe eye for an eye type of punishment. Every day he gets beat with a cane.

This gentleman is not worth the time or tax dollars spent on him. Just a side note, doesn’t it look like he has a ninja turtle head?

I guess when a person invades your home, they forfiet their human rights. I would say they become a componet of your enviroment, to be disposed of at the homeowners discretion. Mr Henderson is lucky to recieve 35 years. He could have recieved a ticket to the judgement. I am glad Mr Dawson was not killed.
