Armed Robbery Charges: Man Stuffs Sausage Inside Pants, Pulls Knife

August 25, 2011

An Atmore man is charged with armed robbery after allegedly stuffing sausage inside his pants and pulling a knife at the Piggly Wiggly, before making his getaway across state lines on bicycle.

Charles Truman Davis, 62, remained in the Escambia County Jail on the armed robbery charge early Friday morning. His bond was set at $50,000.

An employee at the Piggly Wiggly on Highway 97 in Davisville reported seeing Davis place four packs of Conecuh Sausage — worth $4.29 each — into his pants. Before leaving, Davis reportedly pulled a four-inch pocket knife and told the store employee, “You don’t know me. I’ll cut your guts out”, according to an Escambia County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

The store’s security guard and another employee tailed the alleged sausage thief’s bicycle into Atmore where he was detained by the Atmore Police Department. The stolen sausage was never found; authorities believe Davis disposed of it when he realized he was being followed.

At least this guy is an honest thief. I went to food world today where an older lady with nicotine stained skin stood in front of me tying up the register with a big wic purchase (welfare for infants)….then as I was leaving the parking lot I saw her and a guy drive out of the parking lot in a newer cadallic….welfare is stealing from tax payers….this guy had his sausage in his shorts…this thief had your tax dollars in her cadalliac.

Maybe oneday Andrew Loyde Webber will write an opera The Sausage Thief of Davisville. I think the chase will be my favorite scene, or the confrontation.

Should have headlined this story ” The Great Sausage Caper”. Wish I could beg, borrow, buy, steal some Conecuh Sausage. Dont sell it here in Braska.
Also need a Whataburger! Used to be a butcher in Atmore,Bartels, talk about good sausage! Can remember Bartel behind the counter with the bloody meat apron and a big stoggie hanging from his mouth!
From the posts sounds like this person is a habitual community problem.

According to the Mayo clinic regarding kelptomania, the symptoms don’t sound like what bratt described.

    http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/kleptomania/DS01034/DSECTION=symptoms
“Unlike typical shoplifters, people with kleptomania don’t compulsively steal for personal gain. Nor do they steal as a way to exact revenge. They steal simply because the urge is so powerful that they can’t resist it. This urge makes them feel uncomfortably anxious, tense or aroused. To soothe these feelings, they steal.
During the theft, they feel relief and gratification. Afterward, though, they feel enormous guilt, remorse, self-loathing and fear of arrest. But the urge comes back, and the kleptomania cycle repeats itself”

As to laughing about it, many people laugh when they think they have pulled one over on authorities or others. Regardless, people who endanger or threaten others need to be where they will no longer do so. Call it a prison, insane assylum or palace makes no difference, just so they are isolated.

Hey bratt, Anyone who laughs about breaking the law and getting hunted by police is not functioning correctly mentally, therefore they call it mentally ill. Another cool word to look up is Kleptomania, check it out. At least its a possible explanation……
Or maybe he has friends in jail and likes to go stay them for a bit there, who knows?

  9. bratt on August 26th, 2011 12:08 am

To polythenepam this man ain’t suffering from no mental illness. Go down n read and read “lawful citizens” post….. This person knows this man on a personal level and says he’s also gota job. Like I said n my other posts….he’s stealn cause he can not cause he’s hungry. I’ve delt with him a number of times for steeln. Another thang is NoBoDy HaS sTeAl!!! It’s a choice people make. Another post also talked bout how he would steal n have a car waitn fer em somewhere. Then he would laugh cause police is lookn fer a dude on a bicycle n he would have his bike hidden.

  11. Polythenepam on August 25th, 2011 9:05 pm

Well chances are he is mentally ill if he steals because he can as opposed to stealing food because he needs to, that said, I have to say, this, and everyones comments , was way too funny.
The down side is we wonder why everyone looks down on us up here in the northend. This might be a good example of why…….

4 inches is longer than the distance from the beginning to the back of the eye.

It is longer than the distance from the surface of the neck to the carotid artery.

When it comes down to it, 4 inches is enough.

A 4″ knife can kill you just as quick as a 12″ knife Fireman Art. It doesn’t take much to reach your heart , brain, main arteries in your neck. So folks unless you are trained and I mean trained very good don’t every tackle anyone with a knife. It could be the last thing you every do in this life. Think before you act. The sausage isn’t worth anyone’s life. Live Happy Everyone

“because they have felonies, nonone will hire them ”

And yet thousands, nay millions, are working despite felony convictions. Many of them got college degrees after earning felony convictions. (One neighbor earned a doctorate while incarcerated for assorted felonies.)

Please try to consider the possibility that is not the sole reason they aren’t working.

Even so, would you hire a convicted thief to handle money?
Would you put a convicted drug user in a drug store?
Would you put a sex offender in charge of children?

If so, what’s wrong with you?

Don’t feel sorry for him. He rides around on a bicycle with a cooler attached to it, and has someone usually waiting on him with a vehicle he can hide his bike in. While the cops are looking for a suspect on a bike, he is laughing his butt off on the ride home.

Please remember incidents such as this when you go to the polls to vote next year. Our current administration is doing nothing to create jobs for Americans who want to and will work. When Washington gets serious about sending home the illegal aliens then there will be jobs for Americans.

How sad that a person this age has to steal sausage. Is he just one of many, many of our American’s who is with out a job, and hungry in theis country whie we help to feel people a world away. I know he did wrong, but my heart goes out to him. Let us remember we have millions in our own country who have fallen on hard times. But for the Grace of God that could have been me or you.

This man has been barred from so many stores all fer steeln. He came n tha store after being barred n I tole him to get out he knows he don’t pose to b n here n he came up with tha excuse of (u got me mixed up with my twin brother) I said u ain’t got no twin now get out. He was steeln food there to juz like he was from tha pig n he disposed of it b4 tha cops got to him tha same as tha pig situation. There’s places to go get free food around atmore if u r broke er ain’t gota job. This man juz steels cause he can not cause he has to n not cause he hungry.

  29. Fairlane63 on August 25th, 2011 7:56 am

    That is tasty sausage.

  30. Jonny Bell on August 25th, 2011 7:20 am

He knew better, broke the law and needs to suffer the consequences…
    in addition:
obviously the man was hungry, Its easy to say he should get a job, however, I know hundreds right in this county who have to steal or deal drugs because they got records at young ages(some falsely accused – i know many of such) and because they have felonies, nonone will hire them and they cant go to college if they want to because you cant get financial aid if you have a felony…so what else is left to do if you cant work or go to school..

see how messed up the american system is..we all know who it was set up against, and who it was set up for.
