Thousands Attend Area Fireworks Shows (With Photos From Jay, Flomaton, Pensacola)

July 5, 2011

Thousands of people attended fireworks shows across the area over the long Fourth of July weekend.

Over 100,000 people were estimated to have watched fireworks shows in Jay (pictured), to Poarch, East Brewton, Pensacola, Pensacola Beach and Milton Monday night — with the largest crowds at the 22nd annual Sertoma’s 4th of July show in downtown Pensacola.

A fireworks show was held Saturday night in Flomaton, a joint project of the towns of Flomaton and Century, along with the chambers of commerce in both towns. It marked the first organized public fireworks show in either town in several years. Plans call for another show to be held next year somewhere in Century.

Poarch may have had a great show, but they apparently started way earlier than when it said they were supposed to. We drove all the way up there from Molino and we could see that they were already shooting off the fireworks as we were getting closer. The show wasn’t supposed to start until 9, but it was over by 9:05! What a major disappointment for our two little ones. All they got to see was the grand finale! :(

I’ve seen several fireworks n many places and most often n Jay but this was truely the best i’ve seen n a while. Wish advertising was better. This would b a great opportunity to make money for future 4th shows or to improve the park even more. If u missed the show you really missed out.

Was really suprised and dissapointed with the Flomaton show. 5 minutes? What was that? About $1000 per minute? One of the weakest shows I’ve ever seen.

We attended the fireworks in downtown Pensacola. You could see the Pensacola BEACH fireworks from there. The Pensacola Beach firework show blew away the Pensacola firework show…the beach fireworks looked really impressive…even from 4-5 miles away…must have had bp money to spend on extra fireworks.
