Unharmed: Authorities Locate Young Woman Missing From Century

July 5, 2011

.

A young Century woman reported missing Tuesday morning in North Escambia was located unharmed and returned home to her family.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office located Ashley Grace Nix, 19, about 12:30 p.m. at the Food Giant in Century.

Deputies searched throughout the morning for Nix after she was reported missing by her family. She was seen in the area of Whataburger on North Century Boulevard about 4:50 a.m. Tuesday with purple backpack and pulling a white clothes basket or hamper.

A passerby reported seeing a white female matching Nix’s description alongside Highway 29 at Cox Road at about 8:45 and a K-9 unit was called in to search. Deputies later determined that the female seen on Highway 29 at Cox Road was not Nix.

Deputies described Nix as suffering from mental handicap, prompting their full-fledged search due to concerns for her safety.

Very sad if she Does in fact have mental issues. I hope this will be the
last time she goes missing, and there is help for her mental problems.

As to running away I guess many have a story about that. I myself
was found outside my front door with my suit case after telling my
parents off and walking out the door. Then later my mother came
out the door and asked “what are you waiting for?” and I said, “:I don’t
have any cab fare”. LOL I think I was 6 years old.

To “baebae”….a 19 year old is of the legal age to “runaway”or leave home if they so chose…however, being under the legal age the possibility
of using your fathers form of medicine could be warranted…but as stated in the article this young lady has a mental disability…do you condone the punishment of people who are unable to think rationally for themselves…please make sure that you read and understand the article before you make a comment such as you have…I certainly would like to give you the benefit of the doubt and realize that perhaps you commented before you completely read the article!

One time I ran away from home….Dad told the police that I had lost my mind and that something must be wrong with me…but as the story goes when I returned home safely….he cured me from my illness…any guesses on the type therapy I got from DOCTOR DAD…it certainly cured me from my wandering ways !!

If she has “problems” maybe a GPS bracelet would be of use.
