Sanity Evaluation Ordered For Molino Pharmacy Robbery Suspect

July 2, 2011

A judge has ordered a psychiatric evaluation for a  Molino man accused of robbing a local pharmacy last year while wearing underwear on his head as his attorney seeks an insanity defense.

Friday, Judge Ronald Swanson ordered the sanity evaluation for Joseph Daniel Flowers, now 57. The evaluation is due by August 10.

Flowers is facing multiple charges for the September 20, 2010, robbery of Scott’s Pharmacy, including  robbery with a firearm, possession of a firearm in a pharmacy, aggravated battery  and wearing a mask while committing a felony. Multiple drug possession charges were later filed against Flowers in connection with the case.

Flowers allegedly robbed the pharmacy while wearing a bathrobe, slippers, yellow kitchen gloves and underwear on his head. He has remained in the Escambia County Jail after a November 2010 arrest for failure to appear.

The getaway car driver in the robbery, 24-year old Krystal Lynn Collins, was found guilty last month of armed robbery with a firearm and a half dozen felony drug charges. She will be sentenced July 26.

This guy went into OUR local drug store and stuck a gun in the girls faces
and said he wouldn’t mind killing them.
I personally don’t care if he was drugged out of his mind, coerced by Krystal
Collins, or if he has Bats in his Belfry. He NEEDS to be put where he can
never do that again. Next time HE may just SHOOT THEM.
    What are we waiting for….THAT!

    REGARDING:
“There is nothing WRONG with this man”

If he did what he is accused of doing, then there is DEFINITELY something wrong with him.

If a person kills someone because he was driving drunk, our laws no longer absolve him of blame since he chose to start drinking while still sober. I wonder if that thinking applies to someone who messes up his mind with drugs then goes off and commits armed robbery.

    David for sanity in others

We have mental health professionals who evaluate an accused person for sanity or insanity. It’s not an arbitrary judgment and insanity is not something that can easily be faked under examination these days. Relax.

There is nothing WRONG with this man… just a drug problem which caused him to commit this crime. Not quite sure what makes the people in the court room think that this man is insane is it because he wore underwear on his head? He needs to pay for this just like the getaway driver Krystal collins is going to do. If one is quilty so is the other. He is the one that walked in pulled a gun and robbed the place.HE IS NOT INSANE JUST STUPID and needs to serve his time like everyone else who commits a crime.
