Flomaton, Century Celebrate The 4th
July 3, 2011
The area’s fireworks demonstrations got underway Saturday night at Hurricane Park in Flomaton.
The show was sponsored by the town of Flomaton and Century along with the chambers of commerce in each town. It marked the first organized public fireworks show in either town in several years. Plans call for another show to be held next year somewhere in Century.

A huge ” Thank you” to the town of Jay for the spectacular fireworks display Monday eve. They were breathtaking. I saw a few I had not seen before. Thank you so much!!
With the ban on fireworks, and all the ones scheduled for our pleasure, why are people still shooting them off? People who live just down the road were shooting them off into the woods, so I called the sheriff’s 911 number and was told that “we don’t have enough people to stop all the illegal fireworks so when your woods catch on fire you can call back”. Why bother making laws you can’t enforce? No wonder everyone here says “it doesn’t matter, nothing will be done”.
