Escambia Murder, Attempted Suicide Under Investigation

July 10, 2011

Escambia County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a murder and attempted suicide in West Pensacola today.

Deputies responded to an apartment at the Hunters Oaks Apartments, located at 7591 W. Highway 98, at about 9:33 a.m. Sunday following a report of a disturbance involving gunfire.

When deputies arrived they were told that a man and woman were arguing in their apartment and the woman ran away after the man shot at her. The woman was seen running into another nearby apartment, chased by the armed man. When the residents of that apartment fled they heard several gunshots from inside.

“Our patrol deputies were unable to make contact with the suspect or victim inside the apartment, said sheriff’s office spokesman Chris Welborn. “Our SWAT and Hostage Negotiations Teams were then called out.”

SWAT deputies made entry into the apartment at around 11:00 a.m. and they found a 33-year-old Teva Davon Bradley (pictured) suffering from a gunshot wound to the head and a 27-year-old woman also with serious injuries.

Escambia County EMS paramedics were called to the apartment and pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

Bradley was transported to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

The initial investigation found that Bradley killed the woman before shooting himself. The victim’s name has not yet been released, pending notification of the victim’s relatives.

This guy is a drug dealer and convicted FELON.
He has been convicted of many serious crimes.

He shouldn’t have been on the street at all !!!!!

    REGARDING:
“Take a look at his arrest record”

But he’s a convicted felon. He couldn’t legally carry a gun. (Oh, sure, he couldn’t legally commit murder either, but that’s neither here nor there.)

    David considering ineffectiveness

“I’ve alway found it odd that a shooter can kill someone and then shoot themself and miss or just wound their self”

    Maybe they’re far-sighted??

I’m not suggesting anyone commit suicide, however, if you have your heart set on suicide and murder, please start with the suicide portion and skip the murdering portion until after you‘re dead.

Also, if you know someone who tends to be violent, please consider not getting tied up with that person lest you be on the receiving end of the violence. If you choose to ignore that advice, please don’t blame others when you and your friends and children are beat up and/or killed by your new soul-mate.

    David for priorities,
    caution and realism

Take a look at his arrest record—-then tell me and some other “cold hearted” people why we should feel sorry for him and his “friends”.

This is a horrible crime and it conjures up a great deal of emotion for me because my family experienced a very similar incident in another part of Pensacola (years ago)- difference being after being found inside the strangers’ home with the body of my family member, the culprit was arrested and was sentenced very lightly (it is speculated that his being a former vietnam vet who returned home troubled weighed heavily on the judge who sentenced him).

In fact, he later challenged his deceased exwife’s sister, who had been the only “mother” to the minor child that he left motherless, for custody… Unbelievably, upon release, his rights to raise his child (after killing her mom) trumped the rights of a maternal blood relative and most logical choice. This was insult to injury on a level that is still hard to fathom.

There were some disturbing signs presented by the assailant in my family’s case before the day of the murder. Unfortunately, the victim never believed that she would pay the ultimate price and she never should have. At this point, I try to teach young women to trust their instincts and not to attempt to stay in relationships that are not healthy. The rate of fatalities of this sort is relatively high in Escambia County and that has to be addressed. We need to concentrate efforts on teaching women and men to value themselves and not allow others to devalue them. We need to interrupt the cycle of abuse and domestic violence in homes to better ensure that those who minors and observers do not grow up to continue to display the unwanted behaviors.

I will never understand why a person would take a life, only then to take their own. That by far is selfish, they don’t want to deal with the consequences of their actions, nor can they give closure to hurting friends or families by paying for their actions. I just don’t understand..

I think the comments made just show how angry people are about having to pay for others actions. This man made a terrible choice. All the violence and pain that he caused is all on him. I also think people are tired of seeing that women are treated like garbage. How many times have we all read about women being shot because of a jealous boyfriend, or women being raped and beaten to death and left in the woods to rot. People are tired of paying for these men to go to the hospital, when they have just commited such an awful act of violence. This man may very well be mentally ill but I think it is highly improbable. More and more people are coming around to the idea of an eye for an eye.

I recently had that experience. It hurts really bad.

Imagine reading the headline, and clicking on this story….

… and seeing someone you know.

Or how about seeing your child’s picture? Do you think your reaction might be different?

Whatever was going on in this man’s mind to make this seem like an appropriate action is terrible… he took this woman’s life, and tried to take his own.

Imagine opening this link and seeing someone you know. It might be good to consider this when making comments. Someone is likely going to open this and get just that.

I am sorry for whatever caused this. I am sorry for the consequence of living in this world. I am sorry for (but thankful) for the LEO’s and EMT’s who responded to this.

Not sure what else to say, Lord help us all.

Amen- Molino Jim. For a while there i thought i was the only one getting tired of paying hospital and doctors bills for people who have no impulse control, no morals, no money and especially not even the competence to properly shoot himself and save taxpayers the money it will take to patch him up, house him in prison, and then let him out in a couple of years to do it again. Fed up with all this trashy behavior? I am

I’ve alway found it odd that a shooter can kill someone and then shoot them self and miss or just wound their self. I recall last year a shooter used a shotgun and lived. Now we (the public) can enjoy paying the medical bills for the shooter. Some people can’t get any thing right.
