Arrest Made In Toddler Murder, Former Cantonment Resident Still At Large
July 23, 2011
Pensacola Police say a suspect was taken into custody in Louisiana Saturday in connection with the July 15 murder of toddler Tyquarius Moultrie.
Shaquill J. Besst of Pensacola was arrested in Hammond, Louisiana. He is expected to be charged with an open count of murder and extradited back to Escambia County. Authorities said Besst was present when the 22-month old and his uncle were shot inside a Pensacola Village apartment.
Authorities are still searching for 19-year-old Dwayne Pinestraw. Pinestraw, whose last know address was in Cantonment, was named earlier this week as the lead suspect in the case.
Funeral services for Moultrie were held Saturday afternoon.

I taught my children as they were growing up not to get involved with certain things everybody knows when a child gets a certain age they think they’re grown and they know everything so it’s not always a mother’s fault that the child does something stupid once they become adults some people to realize that the dam themselves is that if that’s what they think but it doesn’t always happen the way a mother wants to because I’m Marceline’s mother and I never told her to do anything like that or deal with me and like that because I never did
It is a sad situation when innocent children are put into dangerous conditions. This was no coincidence. A mother is held responsible for what a child is exposed to…Nothing good can come out of a child living around such violence and criminal behavior. This child is in a much better place now. Rip.
R.I.P. Ty’Quarius you are in a far better place as GOD’S little ANGEL!!!!
For the Family May GOD comfort you during your time of grief …..
He could of been a future president, a civil rights leader, the one who cured cancer or aids. We’ll never know. I’m so tired of these thugs destroying everything beautiful in this strange world, making it a little worse one day at a time. I’m sorry my little friend. You’re in a better place now at least. RIP
Concerned. In this case it may be ugly, but maybe if enough people tell her
she will learn something from it, and do better next time. Maybe she will
HEAR it and another child will not end up this way. Maybe other women
who think this is their lot in life will get it and do better for themselves and their
children.
This is a bad time all around, for a mother to learn something that someone
should have told her when she was young.
To many mothers learn it to late.
RIP sweet baby.
Maybe it is time to give to the city police dept. Give your time and information, help them not try to take from them who help YOU. Make a difference get involved. This is not a time to think about money. Its time to clean up if you want.
It’s really sad that you would get on here and say something about the mothers choice in men because clearly this is not about the mother or who she dates this is about a child that never had a chance. Sometimes if you don’t have anything positive to say you should most definitely keep your comments to yourself. My prayers goes out to the family. R.I.P
The child never had a chance.
Biological father’s facing a murder charge for a seperate incident next week.
Mother clearly lacks the ability to choose appropriate strong male figures to be part of the child’s life.
Sad indeed…
this is so sad…..
May you R.I.P. Tyquarius. To his family….so sorry for your lost. May God comfort you during your time of grief.
