5-Month Old Baby Murdered

July 28, 2011

The first homicide in Santa Rosa County this year is that of a 5-month old baby.

Lilliana Jean Sutherland was not breathing when her parents found her in a her crib about 8:00 last Friday morning at their residence north of Milton. When emergency workers arrived, they found the infant was deceased, according to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office.

“Preliminary findings by the medical examiner determined that there were injuries present on the baby consistent with the cause of death being a homicide,” said Sgt. Scott Haines, spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office.

The baby’s mother and father were the only two caregivers present in the home from the time the baby was placed in the crib until the baby was found deceased, according to deputies. Another minor child in the home has since been placed in state custody pending the outcome of the investigation.

Haines said the investigation is continuing into the baby’s death. There have been no arrests so far in the case.

I have a 2 yr old little boy it does get hard at times but i would never even think about killing him he is my EVERYTHiNG he has completely changed my life i dont know what i would do if something ever happen to him.. I really hope the parents or the older siblings didnt have anything to do with this terrible death of a 5month old! What can a 5 month old do that is so wrong you would want to kill it i just dont understand people these days if u dont want a child dont have one use protection!

As far as we know this child could have died of SIDS. Who knows. Hopefully that is the case and nothing was done to the baby. And if nothing was done to the baby I hope that the parents get the support they need during this time. Poor baby. God bless the little children.

I don’t see anything from what is written in the article that would indicate that the older sibling had anything to do with the baby’s death. Law enforcement would naturally take the older child out of the home in a case like this where parents are arrested. They placed the baby in the crib as I understand it.

I’m with David It makes sense to take a look at the only ones who were there. Now we need to let the process take it’s course the facts will be presented and the conviction or non conviction will take place.

Let’s not forget the Ramsey case and it was proven later (after Pat Ramsey
got cancer from the stress and died) that it was someone else.

God take this baby into your arms and protect it now and forever.

These are very sad times, people have become animals!

    REGARDING:
“it is easiest to point fingers at the most “convenient” suspects. ”

I don’t know a thing, don’t know what actually happened or even what was supposed to have happened. I’m not blaming anyone, but if something bad WAS done, it makes sense to suspect those present at the time.

David for NOT blaming those not there

It’s horribly sad when a child is lost, no matter the circumstances. I hope and pray the parents nor the toddler were part of this. I do think that in this day and time, there is so much wrong in the world, it is easiest to point fingers at the most “convenient” suspects. Please don’t condemn these people until they know for sure what happened to the baby. What ever happened to innocent till proven guilty?

Why is everyone assuming the minor child did it? And yes this world is has become full of hate, greed and dishonest people.

I don’t believe for a minute that the toddler is responsible for injuries that severe, but I will hold my tongue til the results are in.

@froghornleghorn – Here in ST Louis recently, a five year old drowned his 18 month old sibling in the bath tub because he was sick of hearing him cry. It is a sad world we live in when the ones that are supposed to be kids are killing kids becasue they can’t stand the crying. Very sad..Not having kids isn’t the answer, but we sure do need a kinder and mor patient world.

I surely hope it’s not a case of the older child killing the younger one, but, either way it’s terribly sad. I think everyone should just stop having children. This world is not a safe place anymore.

this kind of sad that the parents lost both children. A toddler doesn’t know the difference between right and wrong. This really looks like what it comes down to the older child killed the younger one
