Williams Ditch Fire Burns 3 Acres

June 10, 2011

A brush fire consumed about three acres in the Cottage Hill area Thursday afternoon.

The fire in a wooded area was reported about 4:45 p.m. in the 1100 block of Williams Ditch Road. The fire appeared to be centered around trash that had been dumped down a dirt trail, according to first responders.

Firefighters from the Cantonment and Molino Stations of Escambia Fire Rescue were able to quickly bring the fire under control, while the Florida Division of Forestry used heavy equipment to create a line around the blaze.

There were no structures damaged in the blaze.
