Florida Minimum Wage Increases – By 6 Cents
June 1, 2011
If you work for minimum wage in Florida, you received a raise Wednesday — but it won’t make any real difference in your paycheck.
Florida’s minimum wage increased from $7.25 per hour to $7.31. For a 40-hour week, that means a paycheck increase of $2.40 before taxes, or about $125 per year.
The minimum wage also increases for those that make tips like waitresses, from $4.23 to $4.29 per hour.
The increase is due to a 2004 constitutional amendment that set Florida’ minimum wage to increase with inflation. But it took a lawsuit on behalf of Florida’s lowest paid workers to get the increase.

Big whopping deal! Compare that to the salary increases our great leaders give themselves!!!! SHAMEFUL!
I would like to see some of our legislators live on that. If rich companies are allowed
to pay such meager inhumane wages, then the people who work for us should
be paid even less, as we are all broke! Oh I forgot. Our legislators go into
closed rooms in the middle of the night and vote for THEIR OWN RAISES.
“It took a lawsuit on behalf of Florida’s lowest paid workers to get the increase” I thought we voted to be $1 above the national Minumal a few years ago and that they were just now catching up?
Anyone remember that?
I suppose 6 cents is better than nothing!, too bad prices on everything will go up.

How sad, don’t spend that 6cents an hour all in one place!
