Shelia Dunsford Mathis

Shelia Dunsford Mathis, 56, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2011, at a Pensacola hospital.

Ms. Mathis was a native and lifelong resident of Jay and attended the Ebenezer Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her father, H.R. Dunsford.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Wayne “Gator” Mathis of Flomaton; two sons, Marcus Wayne and Cindy Mathis of Century, and James Jeremy and Jennifer Mathis of Pace; two daughters, Gidget and Jeremy Dortch of Flomaton, and Kendra Michelle Bonner of Jay; her mother, Azzelene Dunsford of Jay; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Henry Dunsford of Jay, and Jerry Lee and Barbara Dunsford of East Milton.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Carnley and the Rev. Wayne Plotner officiating.

Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James Mathis, Shane Dunsford, Steven Dunsford, Bill Cozart, Chuck Alderidge and Michael McDonald.

    Sheila, Shelia, Shelia! I Still can’t believe this has happened to you.. I Guess it will never sink in for me.. You are & Were a Very Special Sister -n- Law to me & my Family. We Love you Dearly & You will be Missed so very Much. It has been a rough & tough Year for us all with all the trauma going on on both sides of the Family.. I’m so Glad We got the Oppurinty to have you in our Family & was blessed with you in our life..Jesus was very Blessed to have such a wonderful Angel Like you to come home too. I was Very Blessed to have Wittness to you in PCU @ Baptist Hospital When I did.. Jerry was very Blessed that you excepted the Lord as well.. We Love You & Miss You so very Much, & you will never be forgotten! We Love You Dearly. God just had better plans for you than we could give you..He is the All Mighty Man! I’m so glad you made it to Heaven Safely.. Jesus is Awsome.. Love You!
