Highway 29 Pedestrian Pushing Wheelchair Dies
May 13, 2011
A pedestrian pushing another man in wheelchair died after an early Friday morning accident near Walmart in Pensacola.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 50-year old McNoel Davis was pushing another person in a wheelchair across Highway 29 just north of Hood Drive. About 12:24 a.m., a 1993 Oldsmobile driven by 54-year old Arthur Merle Eliason struck the McNoel. McNoel was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in critical condition where he later died.
The occupant of the wheelchair, Edward Robinson, 51, of Pensacola was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital with minor injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol originally stated in a news release that McNoel was from Cantonment; however, an update stated that the man was from Pensacola.

To all those who commented…
Be very careful how you judge, one day you may be in a similar situation. A split second can change your world.
I knew Mac when he was a younger man. He was fun loving and caring. A HUMAN BEING. Praying for his sweet family, the person who was driving, and the guy in the wheelchair. I also know in my heart of hearts that Mac is with the Lord today.
Jason we are very sad about your brother dying so unexpectedly while trying to do a good deed. Everyone who really knows the Davis family understands that Mac could have lived his life differently and had more support from his family, but he chose his own path. Draw closer to those who remain, continue to take care of your young family, and seek the Lord’s help in everything. Think of him often as our memories help keep our loved ones alive in our hearts.
This guy has been going every Sunday to the Nothing Lost Outreach, which is at a local church and they cook them a good meal , give them fellowship , music and a message. They are going to have a
memorial service for him next week
More then once My family and I have stopped and gave them money and normally we offer a beer.. More times then not they say they dont drink and refuse the beer and cigarettes. Some are just down on there luck, just because they are homeless they sometimes are more human then those in thier high-in cars!! Pass ur judgements all u want, ur opinions dont count only then one in the end does!! May God be with the Man and his Family!!
“If you want to help the homeless, give your money to a charity that deals with them.”
How about getting out of your air conditioned car, and praying with them? Asking them if they are hungry, then buy them a meal. Ask them if they knwo Jesus and have accepted him as their Savior. That way when they get run over they can at least have eternal life with Christ. Not preaching or judging. But the response indicates, at least to me, that giving money to the charity insulates one from the smelly dirty vagabond. Remember he/she is still a child of God; they are ALL sheep, and we are to protect the flock.
REGARDING:
” ,maybe it was a accident ”
You suspect it was intentional?
David not thinking that kind of hit
The majority of the victims that have been hit haven’t been homeless.
i think all these comments are crazy, you hit someone an it is lite up in front walmart pretty good an you blame the pedestrian an the guy in the wheelchair how the world you gonna start throwing comments like that at a dead man? homeless an begging for money for booze you know mr davis?to be talking bad about him,you have no heart disrespecting someone that just got killed over someone driving careless an probly not paying attention an who says he has no family?an it is the guy off 9 mile road yes he has been off 29 before ,an the comment up top i beleive the problem with people getting hit is drivers not paying attention or like you said impaired or on cellphone texting a majority of the time, but people shouldnt be such judgemental over people they dont even know ,mr davis was a great guy he had his ups an downs but everyone has them every now an then,an didnt deserve to be talked down to like people do,maybe it was a accident but who knows, like i said before he dont deserve to be talked about like that ,about the worried resident thanks for the support im pretty sure his family appreciates it thanks, everyone keep praying for his family thanks all
In reply to “What is the real problem?”…
A contributing factor is all the folks that continue to enable the transient population here in Escambia County. When drivers “donate” money to these beggars, they are encouraging them to stay. A majority of them use the money for booze, which in turn makes them a hazard when they wander the roadways at all hours.
If you want to help the homeless, give your money to a charity that deals with them. If you prefer that they waste their lives on our roads, keeping handing them change!

Looking back, that may not be a good time to be out and about.
Hard to see and be seen.
A number of impaired drivers around (not that this one was, just that they are out then and drivers and pedestrians have to be on the lookout for them too).
Limited mobility.
David considering hard lessons
versus forethought
My prayers go out to the family and friends of Mr, Davis. May GOD comfort you! I also pray for Mr.Eliason, because I know if I had accidentally hit someone I would be very upset!! I’ve said it on here before, Pensacola has an awful lot of “vehicle vs pedestrian” accidents. What is the real problem!!!
” McNoel Davis was pushing another person in a wheelchair”
” McNoel was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in critical condition where he later died.’
I wonder if this was the homeless man who sat at 9mile and 29 sometimes?
The article states who died and who received injuries.
I’m a little confused. There was a pedestrian pushing someone in a wheelchair. The vehicle struck the person in the wheelchair not the pedestrian pushing the wheelchair. Did it kill the pedestrian pushing the wheelchair or the person in the wheelchair who was struck?
