Overdue Property Taxes Must Be Paid This Month

May 23, 2011

taxbill.jpgAll 2010 overdue real estate taxes must be paid by the end of the month to avoid the issuance of a tax certificate, which is a first lien against the property, according to Escambia County Tax Collector Janet Holley.

Payments must be processed by the close of business on Tuesday, May 31 by one of the following methods:

  • in person at one of four branch offices
  • on the web site www.escambiataxcollector.com
  • through the phone service center (850) 438-6500 x252
  • on the automated telephone line (800) 601‑1055

Drive thru service and drop box are available at all locations.  All tax collector offices will be closed Monday, May 30 for the Memorial Day holiday.

Fairtax is right,by golly! I have no children of my own and am not likely to ever have any, so why should I pay school tax!

It would be far better to have a flat tax per school aged child!

    Thanks, Fairtax!

I agree with fairfax, why should we worry about education when we can import all the engineers we will ever need from India at low cost?, and after all public education went down the tubes around 1965 anyway!

Property owners are the “responsible” segment of society burdened with the costs of funding public services. This is not too unreasonable a concept, however the huge tax used to fund public education HAS TO CHANGE……it is unfair to commercial property owners who have no children in school and already pay and collect sales taxes.

It would be fair better to have a flat tax per resident or higher sales tax to garner these funds from.

Implementing this would not only provide a more stable income source to schools but would decrease the burden on real estat

It just seems that if your property is paid for in full, no mortgage, there should be NO taxes on property. You really don’t own your home even when it is paid off. You RENT. If you can not pay taxes (rent) you loose it.
