Congressman Jeff Miller Statement On Osama’s Death

May 2, 2011

Shortly after Pres. Obama announced the death of Osama bin Laden. Congressman Jeff Miller released the following statement Sunday night:

“Tonight’s confirmation of the killing of Osama Bin Laden by a United States operation is a significant development in the Global War on Terror.

This is a particularly profound moment for the American people.   We will never forget those who lost their lives in New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, as well as those who lost their lives fighting terror in the field.  Our brave men and women in uniform have neutered al Qaeda, and the death of Bin Laden is a significant, symbolic blow to the remnants of the terror network.

Bin Laden created and funded the al Qaeda terror network, which was responsible for numerous attacks including the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the United States.  As one of the first Members of Congress sworn in after the 9/11 attacks, and as Member of the Armed Services and Intelligence Committees who has traveled to Afghanistan and Pakistan,  I have focused on national defense and security issues.  I am eternally grateful for our military and intelligence professionals who serve around the globe.

The death of Bin Laden does not mean the United States can let down its guard.  We must remain diligent in the defense of our homeland and in the elimination of terrorist threats against America.”

    Dear Kathy on May 2nd, 2011 8:50 am;

Let’s be clear on this: OBAMA did NOT kill Bin Laden. An American soldier, who Obama just a few weeks ago was debating on whether or not to PAY, did. Obama just happened to be the one in office when our soldiers finally found OBL and took him out. This is NOT an Obama victory, but an AMERICAN victory!! REPOST IF YOU AGREE!!!

My daughter a Navy wife had this posted on her facebook page. I totally agree with her sentiments.

I gotta say I agree with David on this one.

A lotta people think that just because you made an announcement, you did the “heavy lifting”.

Small, lightning-fast SpecialOpsTeams are the way to fight this scum, not thousands of troops & HUNDREDS of millions of dollars spent overseas.

    REGARDING:
“Reagan got credit for the hostage release; ”

President Reagan gave full credit to President Carter. I believe he was correct. President Carter had convinced the Iranians President Reagan would nuke the country if they were still being held hostage when he took office. They released them hours before that time.

    GOOD JOB, PRESIDENT CARTER!

Congratulations President Obama and everybody else involved. Now let us drop Pakistan from our foreign aid program, leave Afghanistan to Afghanistan, leave Iraq to Iran.

David for getting while the getting is good

Congratulating Barry for our Armed Forces’ handing him this victory is like patting a traffic signal on the back for doing its job.

Refuses to even acknowledge the President. What a small petty man.

No mention of President Obama. He is really so predictable. Reagan got credit for the hostage release; why can’t he give the President the respect he DESERVES???

Once again Jeff miller comes up short. He is a legend in his own mind.

If Bin laden had been killed or captured under Bush’s administration, Miller would have danced naked in the streets.

Not a mention of our current president. Miller is gutless.

Well said James!!! I agree with you 100%. I hope he doesn’t hurt his arm patting himself on the back.

  13. James on May 2nd, 2011 10:54 am

He didn’t miss a chance to try and promote himself, did he?

  14. Kathy on May 2nd, 2011 8:50 am

Interesting that Miller remains in his partisan party ways. He fails to acknowledge the Commander-in-Chiefs role in the event, the Commander-in-Chiefs success. And ya’ll said democrats are weak when it comes to the military? Democrats are weak when it comes to winning wars? Looks like you are wrong again. President
    B. H. Obama led when needed and finished the job.
