1,100 Lose Power In Cantonment; Crews Battle Brush Fires

May 12, 2011

About 1,100 Gulf Power customers in Cantonment were without power for over four hours Thursday afternoon following a traffic accident that started a brush fire

The outage was caused when a  semi-truck pulling mobile home hit a utility pole nearr Muscogee Road and Robinson Street about 12:15 p.m. The downed power lines then sparked a brush fire that consumed about two acres. Firefighters also responded to fires on Andalusia Road in the Cantonment area.

Power was restored by for most customers by about 4:30 p.m.

This explains alot. I don’t always check out the pictures, but after reading that “Daddy endorsement”, I decided to. I say “Great Job, Ashley”, also!!!! Keep up the good work!

Well that explains the brighthouse outage. I sure wish brighthouse would have told me the outage was due to a fire instead of saying “we don’t know, and the technician hasn’t called us to tell us what is wrong.” Our power wasn’t affected but we were without cable service for over 10 hours. (BTW, did you know that birghthouse won’t credit you for their outage unless it’s been over 24 hours).

Glad no one was hurt and the fire crews did a great job of putting out the fires before it spread very far.

Bright House phone customers were without phone (and internet) service for over 8 hours today and tonight. Glad I didn’t have to call 911 for anything.

Mr. McDaniel, that is a great thing you have done, as a Father, and as a man, to encourage your daughter, on this very public forum, to continue taking pictures.

And to Ashley— your Dad must love you an awful lot to post his real name here while praising your work.

    Good Work, all around.

    >>Wonder if this is the reason for the phone/internet outage with Brighthouse all day. It started right about the time of this accident and still isn’t restored.

It is. I just got some more photos taken a short time ago, and the Brighthouse people can been seen working in the area.
