Sales Tax Funds Paves 2 North Escambia Dirt Roads

April 25, 2011

Crews from Roads, Inc. have almost completed a paving project on Pelt and Seals road in Walnut Hill.

The $310,457.25 project was funded with Local Option Sales Tax monies.

Pelt Road is about a mile in length between Highway 97 and Pine Forest Road in Walnut Hill. Seals Road is a dead end dirt road that runs about a half mile north off Pelt Road. The project includes paving the existing dirt road, removing and replacing existing culverts, driveway replacements and signage.

come to think of it, it is called County Road 99, so maybe there IS hope.

you are absolutely right other than the thought that 99 is a county maintained road

there are roads which are the responsibility of the state, others which are the responsibility of the county, others which are the responsibility of the cities.

David going up and down 99 every day

PLEASE add 99 S & N to the want, need, desperate list. These roads are in terrible condition and long overdue to be repaved. I’m not sure if Mr. White even knows where they are but maybe one day he could take a drive on them and see what condtion they are in. They really need to be on the pave list.

Pineville road should have been paved a long time ago. I cannot understand why people will not give easements when it makes it easier for them to get to their property and also increases the value of the property. This is just plain “dumb”
Let’s get Pineville road next Kevin or you may not be our commissioner next round.

To John Q….LaFloresta and one other woman on the south end will not agree to give easement….

  7. John Q on April 26th, 2011 12:43 pm

The reason Pineville is not paved is because the county does not have adequate right of way and the La Floresta is not willing to donate. That is the issue with the majority of the roads that still are not paved.

A meeting was held in 1996 with the community to discuss paving Pineville Road. 15 yrs. later…….still no progress with getting it paved…

Amen on paving Pineville or at least from the church to the last houses south, then out the Phillips Rd. This will give everyone an option to travel a paved road to leave the boondocks and reach civilization.

How about paving the Pineville Road and some of the roads off of it. It is our Tax dollars too. before you start re-paving roads finish the dirt roads.

Now how about re-paving some of the old road that are in bad shape. You can start with “Stout Road”!! it is less than a mile long and near the Roads Inc construction yard, so they want have far to drive to the work site. With the heavy garbage trucks on the roads, they need to use some good heavy-duty asphalt that will withstand the traffic. Come on Commissioner White get started with the repaving projects in your district!!
