Residents Gather To Discuss Future Of Jay Hospital
April 28, 2011
A large crowd of Jay area residents gathered this evening to discuss possible changes at Jay Hospital.
For about a week, the town of Jay has been overrun with rumor that the hospital could be sold, closed or merged with another. Tonight, members of the hospital’s advisory board met with residents to discuss the future of the 55-bed facility.
Complete details on the meeting will be posted Friday morning here on NorthEscambia.com.

if there is no money there the doors will close.
you can not have something for nothing.
people who are treated without insurance and do not pay the bills cause major loses. it is usually a financial decision to close the doors and quite loseing money. nothing against the community, just a financial decision.
breaking even is ok, if you are a non profit or not for profit.
unless they are a private facility they do not have the option to turn folks away.
I do not think most people understand how expensive health care really is to provide.
Thank you North Escambia for the coverage you are providing for this very important issue. Shame on WEAR and the Pensacola News Journal for not covering the meeting! If it had been an event that protrayed Jay in a poor way- they would have been there, I’m sure. Everyone in the surrounding areas of Jay also need to contact the Santa Rosa Commissioners and tell them that we need the local facility to remain open as a non-profit HOSPITAL!
