Photos: Youth Livestock Show, Ashley Cunningham Has Grand Champion Steer
April 10, 2011
The 18th Annual 4-H and FFA Youth Livestock Show and Agricultural Exposition wrapped up Saturday at the Langley Bell 4-H Center.
Ashley Cunningham, daughter of Andy and Christina Cunningham of Molino, had the Grand Champion Steer. Hill-Kelly Dodge of Pensacola, represented by buyers Rusty Tanner and Eric Glofka, were the highest bidders at the auction with a bid of $3.50 per pound for the 1,340 pound for the Grand Champion Steer.
4-H and FFA members in Escambia, Baldwin, and Mobile counties in Alabama, and Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton counties in Florida had the opportunity to show their breeding heifers, preview steers, goats, sheep, rabbits, and poultry during the event.
Complete and final results were not available Saturday night; NorthEscambia.com will publish complete and more photos mid-week.

Congratulations, Ashley! I know your grandmother, and your dad used to ride my school bus. He was such a cute little thing. LOL. In this picture, you are quite a bit older than he was then. Hi Andy. Love you. # 72
I too would like to say congratulations to all of the youth participates in the Spring Livestock Show . . . . but I can’t say that I fully agree with G. Harris when he/she suggested that we need “to tell everyone to hold their county commissioners to the fire about finding another property for our FFA/4-H members”, maybe the heat shouldn’t be directed only at the Escambia County Commission. The Escambia County School District, who is responsible for the FFA programs within our county, owns a fairly large wooded tract of land on the south side of the NEP facility on 9 mile road, another large wooded tract between the schools at the Ashton Brosnaham Park off of 10 mile Road, and another tract of farm land adjacent to Ernest Ward Middle School in Walnut Hill, all of which are somewhat underutilized by the school district at this time. Maybe the heat that G. Harris refers too should also be brought to bear on Superintendent Malcolm Thomas and the members of the Escambia County School Board, especially when one considers that FFA members are participating in these activities also!
Congrats Ashley!!!!!!
Congrats! He is a beautiful steer. Make sure to tell everyone to hold their county commissioners to the fire about finding another property for our FFA/ 4-H members. They need to know we are watching and listening as they continue to sell off what is ours. God Bless You All!!!!!
Please…some rabbit photos and info???
Don’t forget we will publish complete results and more photos later this week. If you have photos, email them to news@northescambia.com for inclusion.
Congratulations Ashley and to all of the other exhibitors. Everyone did a great job, and worked real hard with their projects. We were blessed with a perfect day and show.
Way to go lil cousin
Congrats Ashley, I can remember showing steers with Jimmy and Jackie in Pensacola and Tampa. Glad to see Cunninghams taking up the slack!
All the Lambs moved away.
Congratulations to all who participated! Great knowledge!
