No Seat Belt Leads To Drug Charges

April 5, 2011

Driving without a seat belt landed a Century man in jail after deputies discovered he had cocaine in his vehicle and no valid driver’s license.

Donald Ray Black, 54, of Hecker Road, was charged with possession of crack cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop Saturday night at Alger and Hecker road in Century.

According to an Escambia County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, Deputy Walt Shiver observed Black driving with a seat belt and initiated a traffic stop.  Shiver, according to the report, located crack cocaine, a crack pipe and $3 cash in the center console of Black’s pickup truck.

Black remained in the Escambia County Jail Monday night with bond set at $1,750.

Maybe now that the truth has come out you will get the time you deserve and the help you need. Your parents are too elderly to deal with you. Sad that you have made the choices that you have it’s long over due. Thank God for the set belt law. Of all things and thats what got you!!!!!!

Good job to the ECSO. This guy must thought he was bullet proof driving without a seat belt on to begin with. Wonder if he bought his crack pipe at T & W flea market. Drug use has this man looking much older than 54. Maybe he’ll get some help that he needs. Life is too precious to waste it on drugs.

Just wondering. “Located”? Was it in plain sight? Did he have probable cause to do a search?

I’m sure at 54yrs of age Donald is a good man with plenty of “issues”. If the charges stand…he will be getting help for sure the hard way. $1,750 bond is low for those charges but when your friends won’t help & your broke… it’s time to learn a hard lesson. Good Luck Donald.

Donald! I thought you have given that mess up a long time ago! How are you gonna help care for your folks if you can’t responsibly take care of yourself? Didn’t you see enough drug abuse from your niece & her daddy? Get yourself together honey, your too old for this crap.
