Ballpark Warns Of Possible Scam

April 28, 2011

The president of the Molino Ballpark is issuing a warning to the community about a possible scam.

Jayson Ging said late Wednesday night that Molino Ballpark officials had learned that someone may be claiming to sell fruit baskets or raffle tickets for the park or a team, but none of the Molino teams are currently conducting such a fundraiser.

“I know that a few people have been scammed already,” Ging said. He said that Molino ball teams do conduct fundraisers, but they mostly take place at the ballpark. “This one is a individual without any connection with the park taking advantage of people.”

The possible fraud is under investigation by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with any information about the possible fraud, or anyone that believes they may be a victim, should call the Sheriff’s Office at (850) 436-9620.

BRY you are not the only one that has been told the deputy will call you back. I am not sure why this is being put off. It is giving way too much time for them to continue scamming the area. I would call the SO again tomorrow simply because they are supposedly sending and officer to one victims home in the a.m. to take a statement.

This man came to my home yesterday….quite a smooth talker. When I found out who he was, I was very hesitant. I placed an order, told him I knew his Mother and entire family. I called the number above, just to get I’ll have the investigator call you back….what is up with this, I know his name, where he lives. He has a record and hasn’t been long out of jail. He came back to my house, brought my check back about an hour ago, as I had written it to Don Sutton Molino Ballpark. He told me he went ahead and paid for it, and would bring my produce by on Sunday or it could be possibly Monday….at least I got my check back…probably because I knew his entire family, way back as a child. You never know…..I haven’t recieved a call back yet, may not…I have all the information I need there are 3 of them working together on Molino Road, 97A and anywhere else they can find someone to scam….

Someone came to my house Wednesday selling 25lb bags of peanuts for a team at Molino. Anyone know about that? He was walking. Said his nephew played for this team.

Oh, my goodness…..don’t ever tell a stranger at the door your parents aren’t home. Say your father is in the shower or bathroom or taking a nap and they can come back later. This guy is a crook and who knows what he’s capable of.

A guy came walking on foot to my house and when I answered the door he asked for my parents, but they weren’t home. He said im doing some stuff for the ballpark so I will come back. Then I watched him walk back home.
