Sen. Richard Shelby To Hold Public Meeting This Morning In Atmore

March 21, 2011

U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby will meet with constituents in Atmore this morning. The 10 a.m. event will take place at Pentoli’s Cafe at 122 South Main Street.

During the community meetings, Shelby will talk about the legislative agenda for the first session of the 112th Congress. He will then open the floor for questions and comments.

“Over the years, these meetings have provided an excellent opportunity for area residents to listen and voice their opinions on the activities of our government,” said Shelby. “This will be a great chance to discuss the important issues facing our state and our nation.”

Shelby has held over 1,600 county visits since being elected to serve the state of Alabama. As part of his commitment to Alabamians, Shelby holds a meeting in each county every year.

Great idea again ART. I was up that way about a year ago and visited
that nature center. I sat a long time in the atrium and just watched
the birds. The whole thing was beautiful.
Now wouldn’t that be something for our kids to be taken to on weekends.
They could actually enjoy animals and nature without having to kill something.

i dont live in alabama, but i have kin that do. this senator was instrumental in creating a nature center at little river canyon up by fort payne in northern alabama. it is beautiful. maybe he could use his abilities/resources/ talents to persuade conecuh llc. to back off the landfill idea and put in some kind of botanical gardens or a wildlife refuge or park or recycling center or something that would boost this areas value and protect our clean waters. just a thought.
