One Airlifted After Barth Lane Stabbing; Victim Won’t Cooperate With Deputies

March 17, 2011

One person was reportedly stabbed multiple times in the Barth community near Molino Thursday night, but authorities said no one would cooperate in their investigation.

A 29-year old male was transported to a Pensacola hospital by LifeFlight after the incident about 8:25 p.m. on Barth Lane, off Barth Road east of Highway 29. He was reportedly stabbed in the abdominal area.

The stabbing is under investigation by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, but deputies said Friday morning that there was no cooperation at the scene Thursday night.

“There was an altercation in the street between the two subjects, but neither the victim nor the suspect would cooperate with the officer last night,” said Melissa Rawson, spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office.

    REGARDING:
“*** didn’t cooperate with an officer…. that should be resisting arrest without violence, at the very least.”

You can’t really resist arrest unless you are being placed under arrest. I don’t see where they were placing him under arrest. If he didn’t cooperate, it is possible that his cooperation would have led to some charges against him and he has the right not to incriminate himself, so he probably has the right to not cooperate with officers under such circumstances.

    David for a clear conscience

*** didn’t cooperate with an officer…. that should be resisting arrest without violence, at the very least. I agree with making the guy work or pay off his doctor bill’s, court costs and all since he doesn’t need the suspects help with that, obviously.

ever wonder who is paying the bill for life flight – hospital – and the deputies salaries to answer these calls. someone has to pay and i would venture a guress and say it is the taxpayers and law-abiding citizens of this county and state.

“anybody who is tied to the negative sides of this stuff going on lately should be ashamed

I agree but wonder if you’ve ever noticed that those who should usually aren’t?

    David contemplating shame
and figuring out that riff probably means
    “respond in full force”
    or something like that

That’s why my husband and I each have concealed weapons permits and carry them on us at all times. Don’t tell me it doesn’t deter thugs and evil-doers.

If they won’t cooperate, throw both of them in jail till they pay back the tax payers
    for this call.

There are good and bad parts in Barth, don’t include yourself in what you know is going on and you won’t have to worry about it. It’s pretty quite around here for the most part, no worse than other parts of town that participate in the same show. I wouldn’t let one road in Barth give the whole area a bad name.

Are you both new to the area? Barth has always been riff, 25 years ago a deputy sheriff didn’t respond alone to the Barth community.
