Escambia Man, 75, Picks Up Prostitute, Loses BMW, Cash, Phone

February 4, 2011

A 75-year old Escambia County man told deputies that his car, cash and cell phone were stolen after he fell asleep with a prostitute he had picked up.

Clifton Eugene Mathis told Escambia County Sheriff’s deputies Thursday that he picked up a prostitute he identified as “Tri” at L Street and Lakeview Avenue about 11 p.m. Tuesday.

According to Mathis, he spent some time with the woman and then fell asleep. When he woke, he discovered that $300 in cash, his cell phone and his 1996 BMW had been stolen, according to Deputy Chris Welborn, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office.

The man’s vehicle and cell phone were recovered from a home in the 700 block of Citrus Avenue.

Latoria Shanise Frazier, 31, of Pensacola, who was positively identified by Mathis, was arrested for vehicle theft, grand theft and petit theft. Frazier (pictured) was held at the Escambia County Jail on a $10,500 bond.

Another person located at the residence on Citrus street was arrested on un-related charges. He was identified as Cecil Lindsey III, 25, of Pensacola. He was arrested for possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.

i posted this earlier, but..i think that its worth repeating….latoria didnt get charged w/prostitution…why? think about it…most likely, clifton fell asleep after he “spent some time w/her” and NEVER completed a money transaction for sex- aka prostitution…she stole his money and belongings BEFORE he woke up to pay her…consequently, he technically couldnt be charged w/paying her for her sexual favors.. stealing clftons money isnt the same as clifton giving his money to her for sex……this scenerio would certainly explain why each of them had those particular charges levied against them…w/no mention of prostitution for either of them.

So I guess its ok for him to do this so why do they arrest others for getting prostitutes? I bet he is on the list with so many others that they can do what they want I wish I could be on that list even if for only a day.

We had something like this at work a few weeks ago. A drug addict got ripped off by her dealer so she called the police and wanted to make a complaint against him. The dealer instead got busted. I guess you really can’t fix stupid…

    Naw Man….. You don’t know how stupid I am……….lol

To propose to stop one immoral and violent act by allowing legalization of another immoral act is absurd. Legalize prostituion? Malarkey.

Rape is not about “testosterone filled bodies” (a truly sexist remark if there ever was one) – it’s about one person’s power and control over their victim. It’s a violent attack. One small step away from murder.

Prostitution is not a “victimless crime” – it is a crime that the prostitute commits against his or her Self, the Society at large, and the “john” that is also complicit in the crime. It is a scandal. Throw the pimp in there and you have slavery as well.

This elderly man, has reaped the fruits of what he has sown. He should be ashamed of himself. And I think he should be charged as well for his participation in prostitution. If more “johns” were held accountable, perhaps the incentive for these street-walkers to ply their trade would diminish.

Prostitution is an outrage against civil society and its moral foundation, and is a Pandora’s Box of crime and disease.

    REGARDING:
“That would cut down on a lot of rape and angry men pent up with sexual tension”

While I agree with your proposal, especially under the Right to Privacy concept, I’m not sure it would help much for rape. Rape counselors insist rape is about power not sexual relief.

Me not know but they act like they do.

    David considering causes

There needs to be legalized prostitutes with regulations and safety precautions. That would cut down on alot of rape and angry men pent up with sexual tension. It is a natural urge especially with men and their testosterone filled bodies.

Everyone knows that the first thing that happens afterward is
guys fall asleep. If I was a betting man I would say he was done.
Seems to me (don’t know yet either) that at 75 it would be a sure
bet he would fall asleep. As to getting him a girlfriend, they’re out there in
big numbers. He must like Pros or he has some kind of Freakon.

  9. IMPRESSED on February 5th, 2011 7:26 am

THE MAN IS 75 YEARS OLD AND WAS WITH A PROSTITUTE. I MYSELF AM IMPRESSED AND HAPPY FOR HIM.MAYBE THE MAN WAS LONELY .YOU KNOW AT LEAST HE WAS MAN ENOUGH TO SUFFER THE EMBARASSMENT AND REPORT HIS CAR STOLEN.A LOT OF PEOPLE WOULD NOT HAVE OWNED UP TO HAVING THEIR CAR STOLEN BY A PROSTITUTE THEY WOULD LIE ABOUT WHERE IT WAS STOLEN.MAYBE INSTEAD OF THROWING DOWN ON THE OLD MAN SOMEBODY OUGHT TO FIND HIM A GIRL FRIEND OR AT LEAST A BETTER LOOKING PROSTITUTE THAT WON’T RIP HIM OFF.

I surely hope he used protection. Know what I mean? Wouldn’t want to get caught . Maybe tooooooo late!

    REGARDING:
“I agree with Fed-up and others – he should have been arrested – even if the “deed” wasn’t done – he admitted being with a prostitute and even fell asleep ”

With what would you charge him? He said he spent time with her. Maybe he was witnessing to her. Maybe he was discussing the state of the economy or the question of the tree falling in the forest and if it makes a noise with no one there to hear it. He might even have been negotiating services (sweeping, laundry, mowing, plumbing, babysitting, modeling–the most likely service) but fell asleep in the middle of negotiations, no crime until the deal is finalized and even then it depends on the services to be rendered.

It might even have been a few hours of hot passion but it might not. Even if it were, it might not have been paid passion–probably was but conviction depends on reasonable doubt. The age creates some doubt, don’t know if it would be reasonable, won’t know for 19 more years. May not know anything by then.

    David for wakefulness

    Once a man, always a man….

  17. pm on February 4th, 2011 2:08 pm

I agree with Fed-up and others – he should have been arrested – even if the “deed” wasn’t done – he admitted being with a prostitute and even fell asleep afterward. However, my main problem with this is — Would he have cared if the prostitute was31 or 13. Public humilitation is not enough punishment to make people like him stop. Many of these young women are forced into this kind of life and for a man to take advantage of them is tantamount to SLAVERY. I in no way condone the thieft of his property but it is quite possible she is forced to do these things by either her pimp or drug deatler. If the sheriff actually reads these posts I for one would like an explaination of why this man was not arrested – let the court decide if he is guilty or not. True justice should be a two way street. Not decided by a LEO who answers the call. The rule of law – not the rule of man should be applied in this and other like stories where the “John” is not charged. Shame on all concerned with this incident.

  18. CONCERNED on February 4th, 2011 11:29 am

It’s just my opionion but he should have also been arrested. Thats why the world is like it is people getting off easy. He got away this time so he will be out getting him another prostitute again. why not he got away free. This world is going to crap. YOu do the crime you should do the time. Sure he is embarassed but to me thats not enough he should have been locked up just like the prostitute was. Uf he would have though he would have just gotten a slap on the wrist and been out doing the same thing in a few weeks or months. People need to wake up this world is going to crap.

  19. GRITS on February 4th, 2011 11:04 am

Are they sure that’s a woman?? Either she’s got a five o’clock shadow or she had not-very-successful electrolysis to remove her beard.

  20. JUDY MASEK on February 4th, 2011 10:22 am

heres my theory, regarding WHY the “john” was not charged w/the crime of engaging a prostitute in a sex for money exchange…#1 if the law charged him w/such an obvious crime, then…the next time some other nitwit gets ripped-off, like this, they will be less likely to report to authorities any other secondary crime that becomes associated w/their ill-fated sexual transaction..such as: robbery, battery, murder, kidnapping….#2 quite possibly, the public scorn/embarrassment that the “victim/criminal” is now experiencing is deemed sufficient, by the DA…..#3 the prostitute wasnt even charged w/prostitution, so maybe its like …..it never REALLY happened!!! (jk)……..#4 he was gonna pay her, WHEN HE WOKE UP, but his property/$$ was stolen before he could actually complete the money transaction (this seems VERY likely)……..#5 he has friends in high places

  21. FED UP on February 4th, 2011 10:10 am

Well sheriff he sure should have been. I hope your planning on it.
All I can say is the whole episode is disgusting and he got exactly
    what he deserved.
As far as I’m concerned NO ONE should have come to his defense.
Why risk any of our officers in the defense of someone who obvious
doesn’t give a crap about legalities until HE IS THE VICTIM .

He should be thankful that he is alive to tell his story. What a life, and what a story. Not one that I would want my name tagged to.

  30. David Huie Green on February 4th, 2011 7:34 am

Note to self: don’t actually sleep with prostitutes

  31. Carolyn Bramblett on February 4th, 2011 5:59 am

He should be embarrassed to tell his story. 75 years old means he’s led a long life and it’s about time to get ready to meet his Maker and this isn’t looking good.

  32. uh-oh on February 4th, 2011 5:28 am

Took a brave man to report this crime…..
Wonder if he will be arrested too for employing a prostitute??
    Isn’t that illegal also?

  33. shay on February 4th, 2011 3:28 am

So much wrong with this story. Where to start…
