Escambia Murder: Body Of Missing Woman Found

February 23, 2011

Investigators with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office have identified the body of a local woman found in a wooded area near the intersection of Twin Oaks Drive and Prieto Drive in unincorporated Pensacola, just off New Warrington Road.

The body of Catherine Angelica Lindsey, 22, was discovered at around 2:25 p.m. Wednesday afternoon in the wooded area behind the Twin Oaks Villas Apartments.

“Lindsey had been reported missing on February 18,” said Sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Chris Welborn. “Investigators were searching the area for evidence in that missing person case when they discovered her body in a shallow grave.”

Investigators have classified Lindsey’s death as a homicide.

“Even though we are in the very early stages of a homicide investigation,” said Welborn, “we have developed a person of interest, and he has been brought in for questioning.”

The Sheriff’s Office would not release any further details concerning the investigation.

I knew this girl and while i do not encourage killing anyone and it is a shame for her children, she is not or was not the saint everyone potrayed her 2 be. while it is sad that she lost her life what is even worse is that the person who was arrested 4 it is innocent. There r more sides 2 the story than whats being told and since the dead can’t speak(although she usually did most of the talking) perhaps her mother should tell the truth. People should be careful of the company they keep.

@whitepunk, YOU need to read ALL of the comments before you respond to what you consider stupid!!

“whitepunk, for David putting his glasses on before he reads”

Last things first: Actually, I have to take my glasses OFF before I read. Yep, that’s me, just gotta do things differently.

As to the first, you’re right, I intentionally either twisted it or placed a twisted view on it.

A relative of mine was attacked by a former boyfriend once. He was well into his beating when she pulled out a weapon and placed a hole or two in her attacker. It forced him to stop his attack. She meets the statistical point you were making.

She also proves anecdotally that one should be careful about selecting lovers. (She drove him to the hospital ere he bled to death. Thus he lived to beat another day–just someone unarmed next time.)

I believe most are safer if they are not carrying weapons–they might shoot themselves or someone they love in a fit of passion. I also believe disarming the law-abiding would make us less safe because the predators would know we were helpless. As it is, they aren’t sure just as they aren‘t sure we‘re law-abiding.

Further, proposals to leave citizens helplessly at the mercy of the merciless and/or government causes them to feel antsy and distrustful of motives. That’s not even taking into account the number of nations who have suffered genocide when their governments decided to wipe them out or not to stop those who would.

My prayers are with the family and friends of this young woman. May GOD hold you close and comfort you! I also pray that her murderer is found quickly, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

To those of you posting negative comments- A woman is dead through no fault of her own. Why are you on here posting these negative comments?

I’ve sat and read the comments of the death of this young woman. First I think that we need to not be judgemental about who this person was or what she did to be murdered, but regardless what it was does not justify for her life to have been taken away from her and body degraded by being buried in a grave in a creek like a dead animal. If the family of this beautiful young woman is reading this my condolence goes out to you all and pray that God comforts you all in the time of heartache and hurt. As well as I pray that whoever committed this crime is brought to justice and punished accordingly. We as people have to be ever mindful of who we invite into our circle whether we know them or not whether they are black or white whether they are man or woman, because we live in a time where our society is exposed to to much and we as a society has gotten away from moral standards that is part of the our problems we are having in the world. What’s being allowed on T.V and being said on the radio as well as our political leaders showing unethical and degrading actions in our office. Until we can get a grip on these problems one at a time and start standing up for what we believe in we can eliminate some of the unnecessary violence that is taking place in our society. We have to come together as one for anything to happen, but it always takes one. Sincerely, Garry Collins.

I am sure that if she were an hevily armed 23rd degree black belt, we may be enjoying her company today. But that’s not who she was. She was one of us.

So the key to safety is to avoid marriage, boyfriends, relatives, they you’ll only be murdered by strangers? Makes sense to me.

Still, the decison on self-defense is a personal one because if you decide wrongly, you may find yourself dead in a drainage ditch or strangled in your own home.

A tragedy, no matter how you look at it. Some of you seem to know more than this report tells us. I have not seen anything about children or relationships.

“Why are people so mad and unwilling to work things out or accept certain things they cannot change? How can they think violence is the answer? ”

Most people aren’t so mad. Most people ARE willing to work things out. Most people accept there are things they/we can’t change. Most people turn to violence as a last resort.

That said, sometimes folks turn to violence because it works. If they know alternatives which work, they will use them first.

Some people are just bad. They don’t see other people as people but rather as playthings to damage and/or torture. Violence against such people is warranted.

    David for protecting the weak

As long as our society applauds and supports women who are having children out of wedlock these types of crimes will continue to happen. Since a person of interest was immediately taken in for questioning, it is my opinion that the murder was either committed by one of her “baby daddies” or a new boyfriend.

It seems like it is “open season” on women year round in Escambia County. Men need to stand up and be counted – These murdered women are your wives, sisters, daughters, neices, etc. – My daughters carry guns and God help the person that attacks one them – A 357 and a 44 cal. put an end to the perp really fast and saves the county the price of a trial. It is easy for a man to overpower most women but Mr. Smith and Wesson even the odds. Dads buy your daughters and wives guns and teach them how to use them.

Some times it scares me just to leave the house and go to the store. There’s a lot of evil out there. And really no one is safe in their homes.

Why are people so mad and unwilling to work things out or accept certain things they cannot change? How can they think violence is the answer? Seems like people grow up today thinking the world owes them a living and ALL things should go their way. Pure selfish!

The devil has a lot of followers in the world today.
