Attn LEO; it’s like “fishin in a barrell” on hy 97. I’ve lived up here all my life, and since the casino came traffic has tripled, & their speed has doubled!!! Please come “catch” em……and another thing, half of them are throwing trash out of their windows. Just look at the nasty roadsides. It’s downright shamefull how the trash ends up in the ditch. There’s garbage cans at every store people stop at, yet the pure Trash decides to throw their Trash out of their window. Probaly while their kids are in the back seat watching….& learning. And before anyone goes off on me for ranting……I’m glad the Tahoe driver didn’t have any life-threatening injuries & my hat’s off to our Military!!!(half my family is Military) Get well soon!!!

Hope I never consider a vehicle that looks like this after a wreck to be an “ordinary” wreck. I would say it was an act of God that this man was not killed or very seriously injured.

  6. g chavers on February 7th, 2011 7:40 pm

maybe loudnuf and hundreds may want to slow down. ive never seen this kind of wreck at the speed limit

  7. g chavers on February 7th, 2011 7:37 pm

They have invented automobiles that can fly. so most of the owners are just testing to see if theirs are one of them

Paving HWY 97 apparently made the road way more dangerous. I travel up 97 to Hwy 164 it is a total of 16.4 miles. There are now 16 speed signs in that distance. When you turn north, at the 2.0 mile mark it goes to 50mph, 2.5 miles it goes to 45mph, 3.1 mile 55mph, 3.7 back to 50mph, 4.3 to 50mph,5.0 to 55mph,
    6.5 to 55mph, 6.8 down to 50, 7.3 another 50mph, 8.3 another 50mph, 10.6 back to 55mph at 13.3 a 40mph double fine school zone then 14.2 a 45mph,14.6 a 40mph school zone. then at 15 goes back to 55mph then 15.1goes to 50 mph.
One question? if you pass a sign that says hill limited sight distance, once over the rise they call a hill can you go back to 55 or do you have to wait for a 55 sign.
This smells of future speed traps. This needs to be looked at. I nearly get ran over doing 55 so this speeding up and slowing down is really going to cause problems for anyone who tries to obey the law. Also why in dogwood park where the most cars turn in and out is the speed 55, While north of sunshine hill rd in the woods it drops to 45????? The first time I drove it after they put the signs up I just laughed. Guess I should have went to college where I could understand what people with fancy degrees think.

Soo thankful you are ok! Praise God! Looks like we are going to need all of our boys with things heating up over here in the middle east.

Take a look at the new signs on this hwy slow down speed up every 1/4 mile this causes people to miss judge other drivers on the hwy. This raod work is very good and people take it for granted and go to fast. Who ever decided to install these signs for this project needs there head examined alond with these stuped drivers.

We usually don’t publish the names of those involved in “ordinary” wrecks where there were no serious injuries.

William, do you have a policy for not publishing names? The victims name is public record.
    Thanks.

Thank the good Lord that this man is ok. His vehicle, a different story. Highway 97 was a dangerous road before it was repaved but now it’s a free ride on a racetrack. Forget the speed limit (some places they have even lowered it to 50 or 45) because a lot of people are going so fast they can’t even SEE the limit. Passing on curves, going up hills, and on double yellow lines is just a way of life for some people. You may see them flipped upside down or in the ditch any day or you may see life flight coming for them. Just pray they don’t hurt or kill someone else.

    REGARDING:
“I always see people on here commenting about the wrecks. Most of whom have negative things to say.”

I think it is wonderful that you care about the victims of single vehicle accidents. So do most of us. About all you can say positive about such matters is that you are glad the driver is alive and that nobody else was hurt or killed in the incident. Most expressed that gratitude too.

Maybe folks should stop with that, but is it really unreasonable to think on the fact that the accident could have cost the driver his life? Could have killed someone else? Could have messed up a beautiful rock wall?

Most look for ways to change the situation in the future so what could have happened doesn’t happen. After all, if an event has a ten percent chance of a fatality, a hundred of them will yield about ten fatalities.

So saying the road might need some adjustments is a positive thing for the future. Pointing out that certain vehicles are more prone to turnovers and might be avoided is a positive thing for the future. Pointing out that certain driving practices should be avoided is a positive thing for the future.

Admittedly reading too much into a tag is not a positive thing, but I assume they were wondering if it showed a defiant, careless attitude. That is good to avoid.

A man’s service to his country is a noble thing and worthy of praise. If he is killed or kills others by accident, though, he is not able to serve and undoes some of the good he has done.

    David for nonrotational positivity

    REGARDING:
“What happened? I am at a loss why so many Drivers ” Lose control of their vehicle ” on that road”

This is just a guess and may not apply in any particular case, but when you repave the road, you remove the speed breakers known as pot-holes and people feel safer driving faster. The speed limit’s still 55 but people have told me that is way too slow for their excellent driving abilities, so SOME may go over a wee bit. Some might even do it without thinking because the smooth road doesn’t make it feel like it used to at that speed.

Come to think of it, we on US 29 are blessed with a natural speed slower as our road falls apart. We have to try to increase distance from drivers ahead of us lest they pepper us with loose gravel.

    David the grateful

I always see people on here commenting about the wrecks. Most of whom have negative things to say. I really believe you should get a life a not judge a man by his license plate. Better yet, why don’t we judge him for the great things he has done for our country. While this “loud nuff” man was off to war for a year, where were the majority of you? At home, safe and not putting your life on the line for people like yourself, who judge him on a tag. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. He was headed to drill, doing something a lot of you don’t have the courage to sign up to do. Think about that before you want to critize the man on a license plate.

I think it’s time they put a caution light at this intersection, with a speed reduction.

Glad this man and this woman (Drivers Slams Into Stone Wall In Highway 97 Crash ) are okay. I learned to drive a standard shift vehicle on this road back in the day when it was far more dangerous than now.

WHY is everyone losing control on this highway?

  21. Me on February 6th, 2011 8:14 pm

What happened? I am at a loss why so many Drivers ” Lose control of their vehicle ” on that road
they just widened it , sooner or later someone will hit a family head on and this question will not seem out of line at all!

    How does one loss control?

  23. Big Don on February 6th, 2011 7:01 pm

Hey Mac. Glad you were ok. You know that there were about 20 – 30 of us that were worried bout ya! You can replace your truck. We can’t replace you. Hope you ain’t gona be too sore in the morning. As for the rest of ya, while you make jokes about his tag, know this. This young man was on his way to drill with his guard unit. There is a LOT more to him than a stereo. I have served with him for a couple o years. Don’t judge a person by a tag. Judge him for the MAN he is!
    C’ya next month (S**** C*****)!

that was my brother that flipped this morning i am glad he’s ok god was on his side. and all this about his tag, well people must have nothing better to do then so speculate. just bc somones tag says something doesn’t mean a thing. so he likes a system so what. i like my music too but that doesn’t mean either of us are bad drivers. maybe some of you people should take time to pray about you’r gossip about people.

  32. Donna Lambeth on February 6th, 2011 11:21 am

There are so many accidents on this highway. I know that accidents can happen anytime and anywhere but this highway seems to see more accidents than most in our area. I am happy that the person in this vehicle is safe and well because from the looks of the vehicle, things could have easily taken a turn for the worse. Good luck to you and God Bless you and your family. I’m glad that you are okay.

  33. WORRIED RESIDENT on February 6th, 2011 11:17 am

I’m glad he’s ok and no one else was involved. GOD deserves all of the praise in this miracle. Just look at the SUV, and think of all of the things that could have happened.
