Couple Robbed By Masked Men At Escambia Motel

February 25, 2011

Deputies are investigating an early Friday morning robbery at an Escambia County motel.

At approximately 4:30 a.m., deputies responded to the Home Stay Lodge on North Davis Highway after it was reported that a man and woman had just been victims of an armed robbery.

The male victim, 48-year-old Jaime Gonzalez, was transported to West Florida Hospital in with non-life threatening injuries.

Gonzalez told deputies he and his girlfriend, 45-year-old Diahn Peterson, were confronted by two men outside their residence at the Home Stay Lodge.

Gonzalez stated that the two men were dressed in all black and wearing ski masks, but he was able to see skin and identified one of the suspects as a white male and the other as a black male. He also advised deputies that they were armed with a shotgun and stun gun.

According to Gonzalez, the two suspects demanded money and forced them back into the room in which they were living to retrieve it. Once inside the room the suspects took an unspecified amount of cash before striking Gonzalez over the head with the stun gun, and stunned Peterson approximately 12 times. The two suspects then fled the area.

If anyone has any information regarding this case, they are encouraged to contact the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office at (850) 436-9620 or Crime Stoppers at (850) 433-STOP.

Oh and another thing, 4:30 is about the time my husband and I like to
start back for Molino. We start packing at that time and that way by
    5 we are headed home.

This time we stayed in Destin and that where the extended stay motel was.
last time we stayed in Pensacola and was just too tired to continue
to Molino late that particular night and that motel on Davis Hwy
should just be closed down. Even the pros came on to us when
we tried to leave and propositioned my husband and asked me
for things trying to get access to our room. We will never stay in
a ,motel in town again, I don’t care HOW tired , we will drive on
    to Molino.

    i DON’T KNOW

We were just at a motel and couldn’t find one to stay at that wasn’t an
extended stay and believe me, the Florida Motels/hotels leave a lot to be
desired. When was the last time any of you stayed in one of our
    beautiful motels?

They are filthy and they have some pretty disreputable people living
    AND working for them.
WE are middle class white/working people and we were just passing through.
WE don’t do drugs and we don’t look for trouble.

Personally I think it is just getting scary out there.

Could it just be a drug deal gone bad? Or, maybe it is a robbery who knows. But I don’t think we have all the facts that will show up sooner aor later.

Doesn’t sound like these two are telling the whole story here. I’m willing to bet there is a lot more to this than just a robbery. We’ll see…….
