An Alabama police chase ended in Century Saturday night.

About 8:45 p.m., the Brewton Police Department reportedly pursued a vehicle into Florida on Fannie Road. The pursuit continued into Century to East Highway 4 and then eastbound toward Jay. Alabama authorities called off the chase on West Highway 4 in Century.

Man I love the way peolpe read a 6 sentence article and can automaticly tell exactly what was going on. There is no way anyone could read this article and learn enough information to judge the departments for their actions.

For those of you who don’t like the way we run our PD’s up here, feel free to come fill out an application so that you can become a officer and then you can run it the way you want to!

I give thumbs up to Sheriff Smith, Chief McGougin and Sheriff Morgan for their efforts to keep our community’s safe. They may have different tactics but as long as the job gets done, THATS what’s important!!

Probably once again a young officer that didnt want to be “showed up”. I agree they need more control over their officers.

I don’t think anyone can consider me a liberal. Count me as a leader when it comes to common sense.

Let’s see, the last statement Brewton PD gave to the press when they gave chase and two people were KILLED last year: we ended the chase inside our city limits because of the high speed!!!!! Now you chased this car thur and out of the Brewton city limits then into Flomaton police jurisdictions into the state of Florida into the city limits of Century, hmmm did they chase on into Santa Rosa county??? I bet if someone was hurt or killed they would have releasted another statement saying that they had ended the chase!!! Come on Monty put a rope on your guys before they KILL more innoncent people or themselfs!!!!

It is my understanding that he ran from another agency in Alabama later that night and attempted once again to get into Escambia, FL so he could get a free pass on crime. He didn’t make it and ditched the truck and ran into the woods. The vehicle matched the description of a man wanted for several child sex crimes. Boy, I sure am glad he got away……I guess you liberals are too.

Glad no innocent person got injured in this chase for reckless driving. The distance from Brewton to HWY 4 in Century is at least 14 miles, that’s so many miles/ chances for accidents to happen, someone pulls out of their driveway, or is driving too slow for the chase. I think the Brewton police should be reprimanded for chasing into FL, especially if FL LEO aren’t allowed to do it.

I hope he didn’t have a kidnap victim, rape victim or something else terrible like that. If they run, then chase them and never quit chasing unless it becomes too dangerous for innocent bistandards. Rarely do people run just to get out of a ticket. There is usually always something much more serious. Thank you for doing your job Brewton PD. Sheriff Morgan, you need to step it up with your pursuit policy, become a cop and enforce ALL laws without discriminating on seriousness at first sight. You have to keep an open mind.

Is there a description of the vehicle?

  16. Bob on February 6th, 2011 8:28 am

Well Brewton did not learn one thing from past chases into Florida. The chase em down and shoot them in the back instinct is still alive. Brewton now shows the same lack of leadership in their department as at least one other one in the county. Thank you Sheriff Morgan for civility.

    >>So he got away? Why did FL block road or something?

Escambia Fla. does not chase people for traffic offenses. So Florida did nothing. We ran a story many months back about Escambia Fla’s pursuit policy if you want to know more:
