Ransom Middle Receives State Music Educators Award

The Ransom Middle School Music Department recently received the “2011 Middle School Enrollment Award” at the Florida Music Educators Conference in Tampa.
School music programs are eligible for the award if the music program includes 35 percent of the school population. The music program at Ransom includes 47 percent of the school population with 621 students involved in band, chorus, orchestra and general music.
Ransom Middle School Music Department directors are Cathy McConnell, orchestra; Janie Walker, band; Patricia Maness, band; Sharon Godwin, chorus; and Malinda Hawks, chorus.

I was a band member under Ms. Maness and Ms. Walker nearly 10 years ago. As explained to them this year after watching my cousin’s concert, the memories I made during my time there are some of my fondest! Not only are they excellent teachers, but they were more than that. I could always rely on them to be there when I needed advice or just someone to talk to. I am super proud to have been involved with the Ransom Band and know that there is still so much more to come from their program. Good job!
Great job Instructors, Music is a great part of life. Just imagine a world without music. No Birds singing, no instruments, no Records, no Tapes, no CD’s.
