Railroad Crossing Signal To Be Installed On Arthur Brown Road
January 6, 2011
New railroad crossing gates and flashing lights will be installed on Arthur Brown Road in Walnut Hill.
The Florida Department of Transportation will fund the $250,000 estimated cost to improve the Alabama & Gulf Coast Railway crossing. Escambia County and Alabama & Gulf Coast will split the $3,146 annual maintenance cost for the crossing controls.
The Arthur Brown Road railroad crossing, which is located two miles west of Highway 97, will include crossing gates that will prevent vehicles from entering the crossing when it is activated.
Westbound drivers approaching the crossing currently travel parallel to the railroad tracks before making an immediate 90 degree turn across the tracks, making it difficult to see oncoming trains.

Thank You, this is a bad crossing, when you approach it from the east in a bus, dump or a 18 wheeler you can not see because of the angle of the intersection.
This crossing gate has been needed for years.I would like Bulldog to name five crossings in north Escambia that need it worse.
How in the world do you not see a train at this location.. There are more dangerous crossings than this one in the north end of the county. Once again we are going to occur an annual expense because some one’s not paying attention.
You can put up as many warnings as you want or can afford, it will not prevent careless driving. What happened to personal responsibility?
I wish they would just pull the tracks up lol the trains wake me up haha
This is good. I’ve noticed most people don’t even look when crossing there.
I am glad.
