Poarch Creek Indians To Open Florida Poker, Horse Racing Facility
January 16, 2011
The Poarch Creek Indians are expanding their gambling enterprises in Florida, announcing a new poker gaming center and horse track in Gretna, Florida.
Creek Entertainment’s Gretna will bring an estimated 400 jobs to the small town of 1,700 about eight miles south of the Florida-Georgia border. The 100 acre facility is expected to have a $2.5 million economic impact in Gadsden County initially. After a hotel and retail facilities are added during the second year, the facility is expected to have a $6 to $7 million impact according to Gretna officials.
The facility, to be located just off I-10, is expected to open in winter of 2011.
The facility is not the first Poarch Creek Indian gaming location in Florida — the tribe currently offers poker at the Pensacola Greyhound Park.

Rick Scott is desperate for State Jobs after improving Florida Jobs unemployment by only 1/10 of a percent during the past year he couldn’t care less if it’s legal 400 jobs will be great. We are now at 10.6 % , down from 10.7 % and rank 4 TH in our fight for the highest unemployment in the nation. I think we can beat those other three states with Scott’s help. Does Florida get any tax money from the Gretna Horse track. It would sure be nice if someone was supporting Florida besides State Employees especially if the PBA wins the court case that makes Florida pay back all State Employees 3 %.

correct me if I am wrong , but I don’t believe there is ant federally reconized Indian land in Gretna, or an international waterway.
@nudo…Your right but you won’t win the argument in here because people can’t/won’t see the big picture…
REGARDING:
“I just can’t reason things out in your style of reasoning; If I could I could think of all kinds of situations where I am due reparations from the treatment of people in the past. That’s WACK to me! ”
Yep, lots of people can’t reason that way. They figure if they’re given something someone else stole, it doesn’t matter if the rightful owner is known; they have it now and won’t give it back willingly. Even I intend to stay where I am–too hard to divide myself up into all the nations and races (?) which created me.
Note that I’m not even talking reparations here, just saying you don’t have a right to what they have right now, whereas you are wanting to tax them even though their freedom from taxes in such situations hasn’t been stolen yet. I don’t even favor gambling, just the right to gamble so fools can be fleeced legally.
If taxes are too high, it isn’t their fault; it’s ours. We vote for people who give us more and more goodies by taking more and more money from us. Blaming injuns for high taxes makes no sense, nor can they cure high taxes by further robbery.
David for reason
Great there expanding crime, and making the poor even poorer. Its a win, win. Oh yeah I’m sure they will donate to the community….its called saving money when tax time comes.
As usual, jobs will be provided for another county…absolutely NOT Escambia county. Thank your commissioners!
I FOR ONE AM HAPPY WE ARE EXPANDING IT BENEFITS A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH JOBS AND PCI GAMING DONATES MONEY TO A LOT OF DIFFERENT PLACES AND CAUSES. I LOVE WORKING FOR PCI GAMING. AND I FEEL LIKE EVERYONE ELSE THAT WORKS HERE LOVES IT TOO

Look at it this way:
Anything we earn here is on land we or our ancestors or the ones who sold the land to us stole from them initially.
I just can’t reason things out in your style of reasoning; If I could I could think of all kinds of situations where I am due reparations from the treatment of people in the past. That’s WACK to me! Maybe we should have stayed in Europe but the taxes were too high and then high taxes being to high created this country and taxes are too high NOW because we wasted it on illogical fancies…The past is History, learn from it and MOVE on, not making the same mistakes twice. I see the USA being given away. My parents gave it to me in good shape, I gave it to my children in a declining state and grand children are going to inherit nothing but a huge tax bill…
REGARDING:
“Creek profits are all generated, initially, from our tax dollars” AND “They pay no sales taxes and I’m sure the donation was considerable less than the taxes would have been”

David considering an imbalance
and Andrew Jackson
@■rollingwiththetide ,,,They pay no sales taxes and I’m sure the donation was considerable less than the taxes would have been…
Poarch Creek Indians Donated $1.6 Million To Help Area Schools in Escambia County Alabama. They give back to their community. I’m sure they will also donate to Florida.

@JT Madison…Other Creek Enterprizes were/are funded, initially, by our tax dollars. Creek profits are all generated, initially, from our tax dollars…IMHO
CONSIDERING:
“I take it your a vegetarian?”
I got a small horse for sale, Green. $100.
What’s he weigh?
400 pounds.
What would he dress out?
DRESS OUT!!?? I AIN’T SELLIN’ HIM TO YOU FOR NO PRICE!!!
(some people are short on sense of humor)
HELL NO This is not your tax dollars. This is made to happen through profits from other Creek Enterprizes.
Our TAX dollars at work??
Same argument applies for all us hard working employees. Nature of business.
Nope. Just hate to see animals exploited for money and then thrown away when they no longer serve a purpose making money for their owners.
I take it your a vegetarian?
Great, more horse racing means more unwanted, losing horses who will have to be put down or shipped off for meat.
Sad.
