More Help Needed To Count Local Homeless

January 19, 2011

More volunteers are needed by the EscaRosa Coalition on the Homeless to count the homeless in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties later this month.

The organization needs at least 100 volunteers to help with the annual Escambia/Santa Rosa Point-in-Time Count and Homeless Survey to be conducted January 26 and 27. Volunteers are needed throughout the two counties, including the northern areas like North Escambia.

Some of the volunteers will help persons in homeless shelters complete the annual survey forms, while other volunteers will seek out the homeless in other areas, including the outdoors.

For more information, or to sign up to help, visit www.ecoh.org.

The complete count is used by area officials to obtain government and private foundation money to aid the homeless.

Why not designate a homeless person as a counter? Then again that may take away from his income he earns holding a sign asking for money. This idea would certainly put a dent in the capitol one guys at the pine forest and I-10 exit. They still continue to drink booze from the liquor store next to food world. They walker under the bridge and pee on it. A couple of them have cell phone to go along with their smokes and booze. The BP station put a no tresspassing/no loitering sign on thier door. That has kept them away. The gas station north of I-10 has done the same and they stay away.

I’m guessing the survey has to do with agencies needing money (Our tax money for those who get out and work) to support these folks over the next few years.
Iknow the economy is bad in florida and jobs are scarce but God said he would help those who help themselves.

Hopefully since the deputies can’t do anything about the beggers with signs can ticket the folks who stop and give them money while under a green traffic light (impeding the flow of traffic).

    Anyone seen Garf………………ugh
