Four Homeless After Fire Destroys Byrneville Mobile Home (With Photo Gallery)

January 17, 2011

Fire destroyed a single wide mobile home Monday morning in Byrneville, leaving four people homeless and taking the life of family pet.

The fire, reported about 7 a.m. on Highway 168 near Raines Road, was believed to have started with an oven being used for heat.

All occupants of the home were able to escape without injury, but a family dog died in the blaze. The American Red Cross was called to assist the two adults and two children that lived in the mobile home.

The Century, Molino, McDavid and Walnut Hill stations of Escambia Fire Rescue and the Flomaton Fire Department responded to the fire.

I feel sorry for this family, they where probly heating using thie stove which is very dangerous because the gas heat wasn’t working properly.

  14. CreamPuff on January 17th, 2011 11:41 am

I have used the stove before in my life too. So sorry someone is that desperate and has now lost everything. Trailers are very hard to really get warm especially
the older ones or the ones that have not been insulated underneath. That is
what we finally did. Hubby got under the trailer on his back and stapled insulation
to the bottom of the trailer and then he skirted the trailer and put insulation behind
that. Once in a while a critter would get in there and have a warm home for the
winter and we would run him out at some point depending on what it was.
Good luck to this family. Sorry about your home and your doggie.
