Atmore Man Shot Trying To Stop Argument

January 18, 2011

An Atmore man is in critical condition after being shot with shotgun during an argument.

According to the Atmore Police Department, Joe Jones, 48, of Atmore, got into an argument about 2 p.m. with an unnamed subject on Montgomery Street. The shooting victim, Ronald McFadden, 39, of Atmore, stepped in between the two in an attempt to keep the verbal argument from escalating. That’s when police say Jones fire a shotgun, striking McFadden in the abdomen.

McFadden was transported by private vehicle to Atmore Community Hospital before being transported by LifeFlight to the USA Medical Center in Mobile where he was listed in critical condition.

Jones was charged with assault first degree and for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. He was booked into the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.

Nope can’t say that I have.
At least not a decision to take a shot gun out to an argument.
    Speak for yourself there buddy.

Sorry but in my book that doesn’t make him a decent guy.

Joe Jones is a decent guy that made a bad decision. Haven’t we all made bad decisions before?

Here we go again! Atmore is getting as bad as Pensacola or Mobile. All you ever hear in Atmore anymore is something bad. People robbing, stealing, dealing drugs, shooting people, running from the law, and it’s not getting any better. You would think that after being a convicted felon, he would know better. I must say I have to agree with JimD. It’s really getting old, having to support these kind of people.

Thanks DC. The Joey Jones I’m talking about was white and tall. Would have graduated around 81-82 I think.

I went to school with this guy. I don’t remember him getting in trouble. There was another guy named Joey Jones but he was white and tall.

Yes just another two legged animal who doesn’t know how to be in society.

Now the felon has probably kllled someone, but I hope not. I hope the victim
recovers but a shot gun will sure make a mess of you.

“Jones was charged with assault first degree and for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm”, this says it all…why waste any more time on this individual…save the state money and strap him to the table or flip the switch.

Is this the same person that used to go by Joey Jones when he was in school?
