2,200 Trees Given Away
January 21, 2011
About 2,200 trees were scheduled to be given away Friday at two locations as part of an Arbor Day Celebration.
The Honeysuckle Garden Club of Barrineau Park held a tree giveaway Friday morning at the Barrineau Park Community Center. Each person was allowed to choose two free native bare-root trees, choosing from Southern crabapple, mayhaw, blackgum, Shumard oak, sawtooth oak, green ash and bald cypress.
Honeysuckle Garden Club members, UF IFAS Escambia County Extension personnel, and Escambia County Master Gardeners were also on hand to answer questions about the trees and tree planting in general.
The second event was heldĀ at Lexington Terrace Park and Community Center on old Old Corry Field Road in Pensacola.

I have huge pinetrees and if they could just leave that would be great.
I got their last two crabapples. Come by in a couple of decades and I’ll share or my heirs will, depending on the state of my health at the time.
THANK YOU to all invovled it was very well organized and we will all benefit from trees in our area.
I missed it too. I’d been planning it since the article first appeared on here and then I forgot all about it this morning. Darn! I wonder if they didn’t give all of them away, will they give the rest out later?
I am so mad at myself…I didn’t realize it was already Friday today and I really wanted these trees:( too late now.
ADHD really stinks
I’ll be planting two Olive trees today.
May my children and grandchildren enjoy their fruit!
Went and got mine, thanks so much. Looking forward to watching them grow.
