U.S. Marshals Nab Murder Suspect At Shopping Center

December 4, 2010

The U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force nabbed a suspected murderer at a Nine Mile Road shopping center late Friday afternoon.

Daniel Levi Ward, 22, is suspected of shooting and killing Linda Tate inside of her home on Blue Angel Parkway in October of 2008. He is being held in the Escambia County Jail without bond.

Ward was taken into custody today at 2:45 p.m. in the parking lot of a strip mall located at Chemstrand and Nine Mile Road in Pensacola.

Task Force Officers from Escambia and Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Offices, Florida Department of Law Enforcement and U.S. Marshals had been working this case non-stop since they were recruited to help on Tuesday, according to Chris Welborn, spokesperson for the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. About 2 p.m. Friday, an Escambia County investigator assigned to the Task Force made contact with Ward and convinced him to meet with him to just to talk.

“As far as we know he had no idea about the murder warrant,” said Inspector Dominic Guadagnoli, spokesman for the Task Force. “We really turned up the heat and I think his curiosity got the best of him.”
When Ward showed up he was arrested without incident. At the time of his arrest Friday, Ward was already out of jail on a $25,000 bond for selling drugs, according to Welborn.

Just an old Soldier, what part of town did someone try to break in to your neighbors home? My worst fear!

    REGARDING:
“when did ppl become so lazy, callus, hard, miserable and willing to kill???”

According to the Biblical account, when Cain slew Abel–when a farmer killed his brother, a shepherd. In other words, there have pretty much always been people willing to kill other people for any reason or no reason. Most of them only do it because they think they can get away with it without punishment, most of the rest have not considered the punishment.

    David for waiting a while
to see if it still seems like a good idea
then a while longer just in case
    then a while longer
    - – - to consider the cost of a lawyer
    then a while longer
    - – - to consider who your new nieghbors might become

“and he is already out on bail. How long will it take them to get him next time? Or did I read this wrong and he was out on bail when they picked him up? ”

Second guess, is the way it reads. Hew was out on bail when arrested.

What really sounds crazy to me is that it took them this long to get him and he is already out on bail. How long will it take them to get him next time? Or did I read this wrong and he was out on bail when they picked him up? Kinda confused.

    Has the world gone mad?

A murderer nabbed just blocks from the dumpsite of two bodies of recently dead young women? I know it’s unlikely that it’s connected, but it seems like our community is getting more than its fair share of evil-doers.

Two nights ago – early evening – three men tried to enter my neighbor’s house, and later that evening men matching their description shot a cab driver in the back after robbing him. Don’t know if it was the same men, but sure is a coincidence.

And now we’re hearing that Deputy Cassady is back in the hospital?

This is scary stuff. Lord, have mercy.
