Some Credit, Debit Customers Double Charged At Winn Dixie

December 1, 2010

Some Winn Dixie shoppers may have been overcharged for groceries purchased last Wednesday and Thursday.

An unknown number of shoppers were charged twice for purchases made on November 24 — one of the nation’s busiest grocery shopping days — and Thanksgiving Day, according to a company spokesman.  The company blames the problem on a computer communications glitch that left some stores temporarily unable to process card transactions.

The overcharges hit both credit and debit card transactions of some customers of most, if not all, of Winn Dixies 485 stores in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Georgia.

Winn Dixie officials said the company was working to determine the cause of the problem and refund any overcharges. Customers that may have been overcharged can contact Winn Dixie at (866) 946-6349.

Winn Dixie, which is based in Jacksonville, Florida, operates several stores in the area, including Cantonment, Pensacola, and Atmore.

Why do we always think that every company is “ripping” someone off. I don’t believe that Winn-Dixie did this on purpose, we all make mistakes, again ALL. I feel sure they are working to correct this. I shopped there last week and if I notice a mistake will certainly call, since they may or may not find the error.

going to do it if you don’t make them.

Several states….boy how much money were they able to have in their accounts for a 5 state flub like this…..and for lets see 5 days and counting since they
still have the money and are waiting for the poor ppl affected by this rip off to
    contact them.

Why should anyone have to contact THEM! They have it all in the 5 states computers of each store. They should have to pay treble damages to each
person they ripped off and it should be for each day that they kept the money.

What do you want to bet they would be giving it back pronto and not waiting
to see if and when ppl complained.

I don’t shop winn dixie……too many times they have one price on the ledge and
when you get to the counter they ring up something else and it’s always higher.

This time of year, aolt of people are down to the dollar in their accounts. Hope Winn Dixie is planning to fork out the cost of overdraft fees for the poor people affected by this!
