Northview Student Airlifted To Pensacola Hospital After Head Injury

December 7, 2010

A Northview High School student suffered a head injury in the school parking lot late Monday afternoon.

Ninth grader Taylor Brook  fell and hit her head just before 5 p.m. The Walnut Hill Station of Escambia Fire Rescue was dispatched to the school after the student  fell off the trunk of a car.

First responders were given conflicting information as to whether or not the car was moving at the time of the accident.

Brook was transported by Atmore Ambulance to Atmore Community Hospital and later transferred to Pensacola by Lifeflight. Tuesday morning, she remained at Sacred Heart Hospital in good condition.

Brother Matt, I was so happy to hear your praise report at work today. I will pray for Taylor’s continued recovery and add her to our prayer list at church. God is not done with Taylor….He has so much more for her to do…..He is starting by making Taylor a living testimony to His awesome power and His promised favor to the truly faithful. May God continue to bless you and your family.

Taylor is my best friend. I’ve known her since sixth grade; & I would die without her. I’m SO thankful she recovered, & is okay. I love you Tater Mae !

Taylor was able to come home yesterday from the hospital. We are SO blessed to have friends, family and others that gathered together, put their faith in action, and prayed.

We want to thank all that were involved in getting Taylor the medical help she needed: School Staff, First Responders, Ambulance Crew, Atmore Hospital doctors and nurses, Atmore Fire Department, Life Flight Crew, Sacred Heart doctors and nurses. Your involvement is greatly appreciated.

On Sunday, our pastor said that miracles are birthed out of needs and that if you can explain what happened, then it’s not a miracle. We had a desperate need and God heard all of the prayers and healed her. With the extent of her injuries, for her to be doing so well today, her fast recovery can not be explained. It was God’s hand upon her life.

    May God bless you all!

I hope that Taylor has a quick recovery. This just goes to show that anything can happen when we least expect it.

It would really be nice for once, when something happens like this, that people not start pointing fingers are shouting blame!! Our family prays that Taylor will be bouncing around soon like she always has, and that the other party realizes that this was just an accident. Accidents do happen, even when it is kids or adults doing something that isn’t level headed. It happens everyday…..and when it does, we just need to pray and help one another. We serve a mighty awesome God, who can and WILL provide.

  7. Debbie on December 8th, 2010 8:01 pm

Our prayers are with all involved. Hopefully it will be a lesson for other teens as well. Something good can come from all of this.

  8. Taylor's Mom on December 8th, 2010 12:06 pm

Our family is eternally grateful for all the prayers that have been sent up for our daughter. In one quick instant our world has been rocked but the one that holds our world in the palm of his hands, JESUS, wasn’t caught off guard…he was there and continues to hold us up. The Dr. told us it was a blessing she is here with us today, just last year a girl 15 yrs old with the exact injuries as Taylor’s died. God has done a miracle for my baby and we stand in awe our how awesome and powerful our Lord is.
We are also praying for the other family that has been deeply touched by this. It was an accident, and we would truly appreciate accusations to be stopped. These students are great friends and we would like to put this behind us and move on only concentrating on the recovery of our Daughter.
Please continue to pray for healing and peace. May the Lord bless you all with a wonderful Christmas. We are truly blessed to be a part of such a caring and praying community.

Hugs and Prayers for Taylor comming from her Missouri family. She is a wonderful, sweet member of our family and I cannot believe some of these hate filled comments. An accident has happened and my cousin was hurt, that is why they call them ACCIDENTS!!! If they were not accidents, they would be called ON PURPOSES… WHICH THEY WERE NOT!!! Taylor, Connie, and Matt do not let these accusatory comments detract you from the real matters at hand, Taylor’s speedy recovery and God’s hand in this miraculous healing. I love all of you..

I personally know Taylor & her family & I know they are not the type to point any fingers. We as parents of teenagers can not be with our kids 24/7. At some point in life we have to ask God to put angels on assignment & leave them in his hands. As mother of a teenager & if you have never been there u don’t have an opinion, kids are going to be kids & do stupid stuff. Face it we all did it. Just by the grace of God nothing has happened to us nor our teenagers. But they are not exempt. I think everyone just needs to learn a lesson from this & thank God that PRAYERS were answered. All we can do is teach our kids right from wrong & pray protection over them. No one knows what goes on when their kids really are not with them. Just never let you kids leave you for the day or go to be at night without letting them know you love them & you are proud to be their parent/parents. None of us have the PROMISE of Tomorrow. Once again God is GOOD & this family has a story to tell. Love & Prayers to Taylor & her family.

No further comments will be approved that argue who was in the wrong or right or exactly what happened in this incident.

The only official word at this point is that Fire Rescue given conflicting information by different parties as to whether or not the car was moving. The Florida Highway Patrol did not respond (they don’t usually do parking lot accidents). There will be an official school district accident report, but that’s not yet available.

When I was in high school (back when the earth was cooling) we had 2 young men die seperate years from stuff like this. It doesn’t matter who did what when… the lesson is that the only place to be when a vehicle is in motion is buckled up in the seat.

  19. SaddleUpNRide on December 7th, 2010 10:43 am

It really doesn’t matter how fast or slow the driver was going or if Taylor was asked to get off the trunk or not, just falling off Would Not have caused 2 skull fractures, the driver had of punched the gas to have caused this much trauma.. It happened and now this young girl is in ICU. The only thing that matters now is that Taylor recovers from this tragic incident, and that my friend is a FACT.

Bless You and Have A Jesus Filled Day

  20. ems on December 7th, 2010 10:18 am

Im the medic that picked her up. Thank God she is doing ok. Please keep us posted as we usually never know how our patients turn out. Ya’ll please let us learn from this incident. Never ever sit or stand on a moving vehicle, no matter how slow it is going. This isnt the first time this has happened. Let this be the last. Many prayers for her and her family.

  21. facts on December 7th, 2010 10:17 am

false. she fell off going over a speed bump. AFTER she was asked to get off.

  22. SaddleUpNRide on December 7th, 2010 10:03 am

Taylor is doing o.k. this a.m. She is in childrens ICU @ Sacred Heart Childrens hospital. She has severe headaches caused by the 2 skull fractures. She knows everyone, knows shes in the hospital. Waiting for some sort of scan to be done, can’t remember what her mom said it was.

She was sitting on the trunk of a MOVING VEHICLE when the driver hit the gas, took off and Taylor fell off and hit her head on the pavement of the Northview HS parking lot.

Thank God, he hears and answers our prayers. Taylor has a long way to go and will need our continued prayers and support. Bless you all and Church Family for keeping prayers going for Taylors full recovery.
