Body Found In Backyard Was Homicide

December 10, 2010

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office now says the death of Connie Annette Slaughter, 43, was a homicide.

A family member found Slaughter dead in the backyard of her home in the 400 block of East Ten Mile Road at around 7:25 am Friday morning. Investigators are working with the medical examiner’s office to determine the cause of death, and are awaiting autopsy results.

“Our investigators have launched a homicide investigation into the death of Connie Slaughter, and they do not believe robbery is a motive,” said Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Deputy Chris Welborn.

The Sheriff’s Office is not releasing any further information concerning the case at this time.

William have you heard any follow up information on this case? It seems this story has just fallen by the wayside and without much information.

I heard it was a very bloody scene. I heard through a close source not in any article. That her face was pretty bad. This is so terrible.

    REGARDING:
” have you notice there is never a problem at the coffee shops or donut places”

Whenever I read statements like that I wonder if the writer is implying the deputies are not doing their jobs when they take a break at someplace to eat. I never begrudge them resting since they are in constant contact with dispatch and may have to head out to a dangerous situation at a moment’s notice.

On the other hand, it correctly points out that most criminals do not commit crimes where they realize they are likely to be seen and stopped. I’ve seen Seven Elevens add seats so people will stay in and eat and drink a while, knowing it makes the place less likely to be robbed with witnesses present.

    David for lots of cameras
    so crooks will know
they won’t get away with it

john doe–THAT’S A CHEAP SHOT AT LEO’S. THEY DO A JOB NO ONE ELSE WANTS. CHECK WITH THE YOUNG OFFICER WHO IS STILL IN THE HOSPITAL AND HAS HAD HIS LIFE MESSED UP. BETTER YET CHECK WITH SOME OF THE MANY OFFICERS WHO HAVE BEEN SHOT OR THE FAMILIES WHO HAVE HAD A LOVED ONE KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY. BET THEY WOULD LIKE TO BE ABLE TO HAVE A CUP OF COFFEE. AS I SAID THAT WAS A CHEAP SHOT

Whats going on down in that area of town they found what three people dead in the last month. Looks like the new people down town need to get out and ride around a little while. But have you notice there is never a problem at the coffee shops or donut places.

The sheriff isn’t responsible for any violence he didn’t personally commit or permit.

  10. citizen on December 12th, 2010 1:47 am

Violent crime is out the roof. The new Sheriff said he was going to work on this??? It’s seems to have gotten worse. Is anything being done?? Let me guess, due to the budget, we are doing all we can.. Who will be the blame this time? McNesby isn’t in office any more. It’s your problem now and it seems that you, Mr. Morgan are just sitting there while it happens. I’m sorry, you do go to funerals of some of the most outspoken people against Law Enforcement and even sing. Instead of politicking, you need to be out here working on what you were voted in to do. Police our streets, fight crime and reduce those stats you put out [a murder a day]. While under your administration, how many murders have we had and how many still don’t have an arrest? Don’t count the one last week that they let back out for lack of probable cause.

    REGARDING:
“If you raise them wrong….why are we so supprised at their out come.”

There is truth there, but it is worth noting that sometimes people rise above their raising, others sink below it. Every person is a free moral agent, able to decide to be good or bad.

It just helps if they know what is good and what is bad. Even if they don’t see examples of good from their family members, they can see it in others. In like manner, even if they do see examples of good from their family members, they can see other ways from watching those around them and be attracted to what is lately called “the dark side”..

This is part of the reason good parents restrict the associates of their children as best they can. They even restrict how much time they spend with some family members and watch closely when forced to associate with some. It makes some mad to think of being judgmental of others, but good parenting includes pointing out traits they would prefer their children avoid. (Example: “Son, you know she was wrong to steal those cigarettes. Please be sure you never do anything like that; it would hurt and embarass your mother and me.”)

Just thinking in general, not commenting on this poor lady. It seems she was a good person based on what those who knew her say.

David for not killing if possible

  12. Caring on December 11th, 2010 9:45 pm

Horrific ,what is your problem teach her a lesson? What in the world are you taliking about? You should not jump to conclusions. Do you know this family how dare you say someone doesn’t care or was a bad parent and didn’t teach their children right from wrong. Remember we all live in glass houses and your windows may crack and break one day. How would you feel if people said the same awful things about you if the situation were reversed? Maybe you and your children are perfect but I highly doubt it.

  13. molino jim on December 11th, 2010 4:39 pm

TERRI–just living with someone may not be any better, look at some of the murders we have had here in the last year. Some are hard to understand (if you can fully understand murder). This case may along with so many are acts of anger. There is a case in Mobile where the father killed his two young children and dumped their little bodies in the woods. (you do not want the whole story). Another young man in this area killed his mother and lived in the house with her body until the smell made him bury her body in the yard and was seen. It goes on and on—-as some one said—maybe we are all going crazy.

maybe getting married is not a very good idea? getting divorced is becoming a dangerous affair.

Our prayers go out to the Slaughter family. Hoping the person responsible will be apprehended soon. They may have someone else on their list.

  16. Hope on December 11th, 2010 9:27 am

People jump to conclusions to quickly during this time. Connie loved her children and spoke of them often, they were her pride and joy. She was a kind, very intelligent, energetic woman and she will be missed greatly by everyone who knew her. I pray for her family and the pain they are going through. We will miss you.

I am sure it is another case of domestic violence. These men can not take no for an answer. Why can’t they let us women have our life once we do not want them in ours.

  18. Horrific! on December 11th, 2010 7:39 am

This is a sign of the times……not teaching your children right from wrong….
no woman in the home who cares…..DRUGS…..NO WORK ETHIC…………..

if you raise them wrong….why are we so supprised at their out come.

If the husband did this…it was to teach her she couldn’t get away and he
wasn’t going to give her money…..

This is what happens when you spoil them and don’t teach them how to
handle their anger and their problems.

I’m betting this is about the divorce….but could just be random act or kid
on drugs….lets just home justice is done…..

To take someone’s life is one of the most personal and selfesh acts anyone can do. I hope they catch the person who did this and may that person stay in prison forever or what ever the punishment is to include death sentence. Iknow some of you don’t beleive in the death sentence but until the law is changed that is the way it is.
