MSNBC Suspends Joe Scarborough Over Local Campaign Contributions
November 20, 2010
MSNBC Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough has been suspended from the network for two days without pay for his Panhandle political contributions.
Washington newspaper Politico reported Friday that Scarborough has acknowledged giving eight contributions to candidates, a violation of NBC’s ban on contributions without permission. Scarborough, a former congressman from Pensacola, will be off the air until Wednesday, MSNBC said.
Politico reported it found five contributions since 2005 from Scarborough to Republican candidates, and then Scarborough went through his records and found three more. In addition to contributing to state Sen. Don Gaetz and his son, Rep. Matt Gaetz – who he has known for more than a decade – Scarborough or his wife also gave to his brother, George Scarborough, who ran unsuccessfully twice for the state House, his former congressional chief of staff David Stafford, who ran for Escambia County Supervisor of Elections.
Politico reported that Matt Gaetz, R-Fort Walton Beach, has known Scarborough since Gaetz was a kid, and contributed to Scarborough’s campaigns, and simply asked Scarborough to return the favor.

To “Just An Old Soldier”, one thing that I can say about our President is the fact that he was smart enough to not let the Republicans steal the election from him like it was stolen from Gore in 2000 and Kerry in 2004. You know when something happens tthat wasn’t suppose to ( such as Bush being in office), you can expect the worst to happen. That’s why the Country is in the shape that it is in now. And I guess you all won’t be satisfied until the Repelicans, I mean Republicans run the country in the ground.
REGARDING:
“Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Lenin, Trotsky, Mao, Tito, and their ilk have killed (and continue to kill) over 149 Million people according to conservative figures.”
True, yet many keep thinking the systems are okay, just the people were flawed. (Don’t forget Idi Amin and Pol Pot.) People are always flawed–save for me and thee, of course. Systems which allow them to do such things are even more flawed and should never be the goal of decent people. We should never strive to give government even more power over our lives. The power to help is the power to hurt.
David for keeping the trash in the dust bin of history
REGARDING:
“Scar-borrow oughta quit. I mean that’s what he did just five months into his fourth term in office thereby saddling the taxpayers with the cost of a special election to fill his seat. He’s good at quitting. . . refined quitting into an art.”
Two events to not an art form make.
It was irritating for him to quit and leave us with the people who came after, but it’s not like he does it often. Notice that he HAD served three terms and never pretended like he thought being a Representative should be a lifetime thing. Based on your modification of his name, one would think you would have wanted him to leave office. Other than that, he was a pretty good Representative. Unlike some people, he can definitely think for himself.
AND
“And where was all the outrage on this forum when Keith Olbermann was suspended by the same network for the same offense”
Looks like the same outrage you see for the suspension of Joe–which is to say, NONE. Joe said he wished it had been longer so he could take off for Thanksgiving holidays.
David for thoughtful, trustworthy people
You folks are correct that Scar-borrow oughta quit. I mean that’s what he did just five months into his fourth term in office thereby saddling the taxpayers with the cost of a special election to fill his seat. He’s good at quitting.
He and Sarah Palin have refined quitting into an art. They have learned that they can make a lot more money doing comedy stand up routines.
But old Joe did hit the nail on the head when he called Newt Gingrich to task for hate speech. Hmmm…maybe Joe *is* coming to his senses.
And where was all the outrage on this forum when Keith Olbermann was suspended by the same network for the same offense?
Some of the people here have spent a livetime fighting against Communists and know EXACTLY what and who they are. Some of the people here have been in countries ruled by Communists and Socialists.
Some people here know exactly what kind of scheming and re-writing of history goes on with communist propaganda, and are appalled to see it on our own television sets and over the air in radio.
Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Lenin, Trotsky, Mao, Tito, and their ilk have killed (and continue to kill) over 149 Million people according to conservative figures.
Now we see it here – championed and crowed about by the likes of MSNBC. That station purposely set out to elect the LEAST QUALIFIED sucker they could find in the Demonrat party, and they and their coconspirators (the rest of the media) spewed lie after lie about the “Great One” (more like the Great Zero). The election of Zerobama was the coup de grace of a group of people that would like nothing better than to see America fall and they have worked diligently for that end for decades..
The hypocrisy of MSNBC is stunning – “ethics” from them? Just white wash to make themselves seem more respectable. So the libs can feel fully justified in sponging up the lies and confabulations they regurgitate to promote their radical leftwing agenda. (And no, I rarely watch Fox, or listen to Rush/Hannity/Whomever – I have a brain and use it)
Joe – leave MSNBC, they are beneath you.
FOR ALL YOU FOX NEWS LOVER., It was The Daily Show that in August made a point rarely mentioned in the fracas over the Park51 Islamic center: that Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, a Saudi who has been criticized for funding radical Muslim organizations — and whom Fox was aggressively tying to the mosque project — is the second biggest shareholder in News Corp., Fox’s corporate parent. “If we want to cut off funding to the terror mosque,” Stewart joked, “we must, together as a nation, stop watching Fox.” And while Colbert’s cutting-up got most of the attention during his congressional hearing, a more striking moment came as he broke character when asked why he chose to testify. “I like talking about people who don’t have any power,” he said. “You know, ‘Whatsoever you did for the least of my brothers.’ And these seemed like the least of my brothers right now.”

I also don’t know why he stays there, he could probably sign on with FOX and get more pay and a much bigger audience.
I do sometimes watch ‘Morning Joe’, but nearly everything else on that network makes me want to puke.
PMSNBC,they are in the trash bin same as the White House.People thought it was bad when Clinton left. They make Clinton
look good.
Yes msnbc has ethics and rules unlike Fox news which is just an extension of right wing extremist.
I love when everyone says communist , I don’t think these people actually know what communist countries are really like and what communism is.
Let us not forget that GW bush approved the bailouts before Obama took office,

Also lets not forget how Bush put us in a recession , far before obama ever took office. Some of us have short memories I guess
Since when does MSNBC want to act like they have an ethics policy? Lets be careful what we say about them. We don’t want to offend their veiwer.
I didn’t know that MSNBC was still on the air.
They have an audience?
I thought all they had was socialist propaganda…Mostly Socialist and Nothing But Communist….America’s Pravda. Almost as bad as the Pensacola News Urinal…
