Haircut Frees Girl Trapped In Wreck

November 12, 2010

A quick haircut from first responders freed a teenage girl was trapped in an overturned truck near McDavid Friday afternoon.

The wreck happened about 4 p.m. on a dirt portion of Pine Barren Road about a mile north of Highway 29. A Dodge pickup occupied by two teenage girls left the roadway and overturned against a tree.

First responders said that one girl was able to climb out of the truck, but the other was trapped by her long hair entangled in the wreckage. Firefighters cut her hair in order to free her from the truck.

Both girls were transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola with minor injuries. The accident is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.

The McDavid Station of Escambia Fire Rescue provided the haircut, and Escambia County EMS also responded to the accident.

    REGARDING:
“really you want to crack jokes about something that stupid in a situation that serious, you should seriously grow up and god bless you!!”

And may the Lord bless you too.

Note I had no comments but would like you to consider all the joking around took place after the danger was over. The rollover and entrapment are regrettable but nobody was joking around while she was trapped. You might consider cutting them some slack–or not, it’s up to you.

    David for times and places

glad both girls are ok and no im not a florida fan but really you want to crack jokes about something that stupid in a situation that serious, you should seriously grow up and god bless you!!!! and who said the girl couldn’t maintain the truck…it is not that hard to maintain a truck doesn’t matter how big or small i’m a girl and i can drive trucks bigger than that me and my husband have two trucks and one just like this one and it’s not hard to maintain..did anyone ever think maybe just maybe she hit a hole or something in the road…i’m not taking up for the girls cuz i don’t know them but it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s their faults of what happened in the wreck…people need to grow up and think before they speak…girls i am glad that the only thing that was lost was your hair…glad both are ok!!!! god bless ya’ll!!!! and ignore all these other stupid comments being made!!!!!

  11. Oversight on November 15th, 2010 4:55 pm

I’ll make a casual observation… how about going too fast for the road’s conditon! Now is what needs to happen is that the truck’s ‘black box’ needs to be pulled and analyzed to find out just exactly how fast it was going.

  12. lilmommy on November 15th, 2010 4:11 pm

SO EVERYONE ELSE’S RUMORS & OPIONS…EVEN ON MY GATOR STICKER? ***DONT MATTER*****

Okay, so first off. These are two of my bestfriends.. And the driver happens to be a die hard Gator Girl. And i’m not even a florida fan… But crackin football jokes about her decal is seriously screwed up. The could have lost their lives. and all you have to say is… Something about her sticker.. Grow up.. A life is more important than your opinion of a football team. That’s not appreciated. Don’t be inconsiderate, Thanks.

But Thank God & all his angels for not letting us roll one more time. this was the most scariest experience we both will ever have.. this is definitely a reminder for us our SENIOR year! 2011. I’m so Glad we are both fine && there’s only little scraps and bruises. it could have been way worse. Thank you to the car following us && helping with calling 911. Love all you guys!

This is where you learn that driving ain’t THAT easy. You can’t text or even talk on a cell phone and/or drive with one hand on the wheel. Not to say y’all were, but…learn and live. My son had one of these in my pickup truck. He was just watching the setting sun…next thing he was in a ditch and the truck had rolled on its side. He’s a much better driver now.
